With the help of business professionals nationwide, ACP offers veterans tools for long-term career development through mentoring, career counseling, and networking opportunities. From August 2013 to August 2014 (1 year 1 month) NYCCTO, Web Shared Services @ Bloomberg LP Created vision for this new department to realize efficiencies across the growing number of the firm’s businesses delivered on the web and mobile platforms. • Executed the vision across more than a dozen different business units and departments. • Created a framework to transparently access core technology assets and make them available on web and mobile platforms. Implemented metering and monitoring to allow for tuning of the system in real time.• Led efforts to develop a private web cloud, upon which applications are quickly brought up and scaled.• Hired, organized and mentored the R&D staff. From August 2011 to June 2012 (11 months) Greater New York City AreaCTO & Co-Founder @ Bloomberg Sports Invented the concept alongside co-founders and applied Bloomberg’s core competencies to create software analytics surrounding data in professional sports. • Lead interactions with all levels of professional sports teams, leagues, agents, broadcast and other relevant parties in order to effectively provide solutions that meet their needs.• Hired the entire R&D staff, led the decision making process for vendor development partners, and maintain a strong involvement of hiring decisions on the business and sales side.• Establish third party business and technical relationships with relevant entities such as, NBA, NHL and the NFL.• Managed the development of multi-platform (web, mobile, stand-alone) consumer and professional facing applications. • Present the status of the business and our ongoing efforts to senior management regularly.• Built and pitched detailed business plans and prototypes to senior executives. From November 2008 to June 2012 (3 years 8 months) Greater New York City AreaDirector of Equity Applications @ Bloomberg LP Managed several teams responsible for a significant percentage of the applications provided by Bloomberg’s Equity platform. The platform is used by nearly all of the firms customers, accounting for tens of millions of uses daily, and demands 24/7 uptime. • Pioneered several new products, including the equity screening (EQS) and corporate events (EVTS) products from the ground up. Marketed to customers and product managers. The events product nearly single handedly eliminated its market competition in a few months.• Oversaw the development of dozens of new applications, including those never before seen on the market, such as the Bloomberg Drug suite. • Responsible for application server machines. Took charge in profiling, performance management and examining side effects from new software installs and significant upgrades.• Managed all hiring efforts for the equity group. Conducted final interviews and made offers to qualified candidates. From October 2007 to November 2008 (1 year 2 months) Greater New York City AreaManager and Software Engineer, Bloomberg MSG @ Bloomberg LP Managed team responsible for the front end of the Bloomberg MSG system - the most heavily used application on the Bloomberg terminal. The application allows clients to exchange messages in real time through a private network as well as interface with internet e-mail. It is a heavily distributed system with many moving parts and uses many different technologies. • Led the software design of many enhancements to the infrastructure in order to assist neighboring development teams.• Upgraded the system to support internationalization. Allowed for the proper display of e-mails containing non-English characters and provided the ability to interact with these messages in other languages.• Managed project to redesign the entire front end (UI) of the system to ensure a consistent look and feel across the most important applications on the system, and to enable the group to develop features conceptualized during business planning. From October 2005 to September 2007 (2 years) Greater New York City AreaSoftware Engineer @ Bloomberg LP Lead developer for Bloomberg's core equity databases/APIs. During my tenure in this role I created a set of low-latency APIs to obtain data for equities from proprietary legacy databases, vastly improving the developer experience. I also built a hashing algorithm to munge 12 byte ISINs to globally unique 8 byte identifiers to scale the number of securities handled by Bloomberg's ticker plant.
