📖 Summary
PhD Student @ STOR-i PhD candidate sponsored by EPSRC and Kalibrate Technologies, researching the estimation of willingness to pay within a customised price setting. As part of my continuous professional development at STOR-i, i have also had the following responsibilities: ● Prepared and delivered an introductory programming course to undergraduate research interns. ● Delivered presentations to prospective students about the STOR-i programme. ● Participated in several industrial problem solving days by both presenting a problem to solve and leading groups of students. ● Proposed and supervised a summer research internship with an undergraduate student. ● Mentored a Masters student and helped them settle into the programme. From October 2011 to Present (4 years 3 months) Lancaster, United KingdomResearch Intern @ I worked on a peak detection problem for data collected from gas chromatography experiments, where I provided advice on data analysis and introduced Bayesian estimation techniques for peak detection. As part of the project I designed and created an R package to carry out the analysis, with minimal input required from the user. From January 2014 to July 2014 (7 months) Graduate Teaching Assistant @ I prepared and delivered tutorial sessions and computing labs to groups of both undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as marked students' coursework and end of unit exams. Modules included Probability, Generalised Linear Models and Likelihood Inference. The role allowed me to develop my communication skills considerably, given that I needed to explain the course content in an engaging way, which appealed to students of mixed level and ability. From October 2011 to December 2013 (2 years 3 months) Lancaster, United KingdomUndergraduate Research Intern @ I participated in a summer internship project concerning the use of generalised linear models and CUSUM analysis in Environmental Impact Assessments. This was my first experience of independent research and I enjoyed the entire process, from teaching myself a new statistical technique to adapting the technique to a particular application. The findings were presented in a report and poster at a formal reception at the end of the scheme. From June 2009 to September 2009 (4 months) Actuarial Intern @ As part of EMB's internship programme, I assisted with the development of a new version of capital modelling software. This involved correcting tutorial and help files, and designing unit tests for the detection of bugs within different components of the program’s modules. I also conducted some market research for existing software and prepared screenshots for marketing purposes. From July 2009 to August 2009 (2 months) Cambridge, United KingdomPhD, Statistics @ Lancaster University From 2011 to 2015 MRes, Stastics and Operational Research, Distinction @ Lancaster University From 2010 to 2011 M.A. (Hons), Economics and Statistics, First @ University of St Andrews From 2006 to 2010 Shreena Patel is skilled in: Statistical Modeling, R, Data Analysis, Bayesian Inference, LaTeX, SQL, Price Optimization, Markov Chain Monte Carlo, Econometrics, Research, Data Mining, Microsoft Office, Teaching
