đź“– Summary
Software Engineering @ Petra Systems, Inc. Boulder, COLead Staff Engineer @ Spectrum Bridge Inc • Responsible for software design and development of MAC (Media Access Controller) layer and secure communication protocols for embedded radio platforms used in the next-generation of frequency agile, cognitive radios. Intimate working knowledge of Linux, ECOS, and other RTOS’s. • Custom IP stack implementations, layer 2 optimizations, quality of service, management agents, and device drivers. • Developed embedded software (agents) for static infrastructure and mobile radios applications to get access to cloud based spectrum allocation resources. These agents have been widely integrated and deployed by device manufacturers in all frequency agile white space, radios that access Spectrum Bridge whitespace/ASA service.• Custom port of OpenWrt, an open source implementation of the 802.11 radio stack. • Developed mobile applications for iOS and Android to enable direct access to spectrum management data and display of live video. Complete integration of external broadcast receiver(s), including integrated device drivers for live TV reception. Other functions include real-time MPEG2 transmit stream decomposition and formatting, stream multiplex/de-multiplex, channel filtering and presenting customer usage feedback to service providers. • Developed simulations to quantify channel allocation efficiency on various types of networks (point to multi-point, broadcast networks) and deployment models. • External hardware integration to support autonomous vehicles and sensor applications and signal strength analysis tools to analyze coverage in deployed networks. Principal Embedded Staff Engineer @ Motorola • Responsible for software design and development of embedded radio systems on proprietary communication protocols for the Mesh Enabled Architecture (MEA) and next-generation wireless products on Linux, VxWorks, ThreadX, SmartDSP and other software defined radio (SDR) platform.• Designed and implemented:o CSMA/CA Media Access Controller (MAC) layer on the MeshNetworks radio transceiver. The MAC supported the Mesh Scalable Routing (MSR) stack.o Neighbor Acceptance (NA) module in the Mesh Scalable Routing (MSR) stack. Tracks all neighbors by managing link reliability makes recommendations to the routing module to ensure the next best hop to a destination.o End-to-end security using 802.1x type authentication. Optimized for multi-hop networks.o Multi-core implementation of layer 2 bridge, Software Defined Radio (SDR), including a soft MAC. Ported, optimized and integrated all the layers of IP stack from the MeshNetworks product line into this next generation product line. Implemented on a quad-core DSP, using a combination of SmartDSP and ThreadX with CodeWarrior compiler tools.o Embedded management web interface, which served as a device management interface to SNMP OIDs for Mesh product line. Done on VxWorks and Linux platforms using HTML, Java CSS, and JavaScript.o L2TPv3 client for MeshNetworks wireless/wired devices to establish and maintain layer 2 tunnels with Cisco routers with L2TPv3 server features. This allowed service providers to communicate to meshed devices spanned across multiple subnets. Implemented on a MIPS processor embedded within an Atheros/VxWorks radio platform.o Transmit power control system on 802.11n devices to ensure compliance with various global regulatory domain requirements. From May 2001 to April 2009 (8 years) Senior Staff Engineer @ Skytel (Acquired by WorldCom/Verizon) Responsible for systems architecture and software design of a wireless message delivery controller module which is responsible in two-way delivering of alpha numeric messages to paging devices. This involved implementation of Network, Link and scheduled Mac layers functionality.•Implemented Reflex50/25 two-way wireless paging protocols developed by SkyTel and Motorola over the nationwide network on multi-threaded OS. •Actively was involved with Motorola protocol development group in making design changes and enhancements to the protocol, to enable SkyTel next generation pagers to roam over to other paging carriers and to reuse the spectrum in a common region. From February 1998 to May 2001 (3 years 4 months) Staff Engineer @ Skytel Responsible for systems architecture and software design of a forward path controller module which is responsible in delivering alpha numeric messages to paging devices.•Developed multi-threaded UNIX performance tools for benchmarking various system modules.•Profiled the source code for radio message delivery modules and made recommendations and did changes on how we can optimize the cpu cycles, input/output access, virtual memory problems to overcome some of the drawbacks we had at that time. From 1997 to 1998 (1 year) Senior software engineer @ Travelocity (Previous Travel Sabre Group) • Senior Principal Consultant - Responsible for software design and development of peripheral processes intended to enhance the customer notification portfolio for Travelocity product line.• Designed and implemented:o Flight-paging: Customers received arrival/departure and gate information updates for flights, using an alphanumeric pager. o Fare Watcher: Customers were be notified with weekly email updates of the best deals between selected cities of interest.o Customer Order Schedule System (COSS): Notifies field technicians of trouble with Sabre installations across the globe. Identified the closest technician to the site and informed them of the problem, in the form of an email. Also scheduled training sessions for travel agency staff and logged requests for enhancements. From February 1996 to January 1997 (1 year) Software Engineer @ Correa Enterprises Inc • Consulted with clients and developed custom solutions for infrastructure and network management. • Design and development of servers and graphical user interfaces for large-scale software wireless communication projects using X11R5, Motif, Xmt toolkit and C++. • Performance optimization of code and database access for reducing the turnaround times on data access. Alarm generation and management of network infrastructure. From 1994 to 1997 (3 years)
