💼 Past Experience

For his entire academic career, Sean Olive has focused on investigating the subjective and objective aspects of audio reproduction and rooms. Hiscurrent concentrate is on developing objective measurement tools for audio reproduction hall systems and loudspeakers. He has authored and/or co-authored several books on audio reproduction and room acoustics, including "A review of subjective spectroscopy" (2005), "Room acoustics: a practitioner's guide" (2008), and "Perception, measurement, and optimization in loudspeaker reproduction" (2013). Additionally, he has served on numerous committees and specializes in conducting research in sound science and audio engineering. Sean Olive is a Fellow of the Acoustical Society of America and the Recording Engineering Society of America.

🎓 Education

Sean Olive's education has included a background in music and sound recording. He holds a B. Music from the University of Toronto, and a Ph.D. from McGill University, where he focused on sound recording. After completing his undergraduate studies, Olive earned his Master’s degree in music from McGill University. In his stream of work, Olive has focused on sound recording and music education. In 2001, he joined the faculty of the McGill University School of Music, where he remains today. While at McGill, he also gave several teaching clinics and workshops on music education. As a result of his education and experience, Olive has developed a strong foundation in music and sound recording. He is a native of the Montreal area and has always been fascinated by the city and its residents. In 2007, he moved to Asheville, North Carolina, United States, and has since been working as an adjunct professor of music education at Southern Nazarene University. In addition to his teaching, Olive is also a frequent speaker and author on the music education front.
