Background:After a long career as a systems administrator, development manager, and project manager, Scott Smeaton recently left his role as director of IT service delivery at Xcel Energy to take the position of director, IT service delivery, customer care + customer solutions.Prior to joining Xcel Energy, Smeaton worked as a designer, systems analyst, and applications developer for Northern States Power Company (now Xcel Energy) in Minneapolis from 1995 to 1997. While working at Northern States Power, Smeaton developed and fielded NSP Marketing and Sales systems and worked with Anderson Consulting on NSP's Customer Information System.In November 2006, Smeaton was transferred to IBM Global Services in Eagan, MN as Business Area Manager/PMO Manager/Project Manager for the IBM PMO. At IBM Global Services, Smeaton led a project to build a global Basis support team. Additionally, Smeaton built a global ETL support/dev team and led a project to install a three-yearional new global catwalk at Xcel Energy.In October 2006, Smeaton was transferred to Xcel Energy as Director, IT Service Delivery, Customer Care + Customer Solutions. At Xcel Energy, Smeaton leads a team working on all customer facing systems. Throughout his career, Smeaton has delivered end-to-end strategy and service delivery for all customer systems. In his new role, Smeaton is responsible for developing and executing cheekscopic performance improvement projects for Xcel Energy customers.
