I am a research scientist at IIHR—Hydroscience and Engineering and the Iowa Flood Center. My research interests include scientific and parallel computing, numerical ordinary differential equations, numerical differential-algebraic equations, and programming in general. I have also organized or judged for several mathematical modeling contests, including Moody's Mega Math Challenge, Iowa Mathematical Modeling Challenge, and Wisconsin Mathematical Modeling Challenge.Assistant Research Scientist @ I am continuing my work as a postdoc with IIHR. This includes further improvements to our real-time flood forecasting system, further developments to the ASYNCH numerical solvers, and work with a cloud computing based backup system for our flood forecaster. In addition, I am developing software for combining the predictions from our flood forecaster with real-time stream gauge measurements (i.e. data assimilation). From July 2014 to Present (1 year 6 months) Postdoctoral Research Scholar @ Developed numerical solvers for large systems of ODEs, developed a real-time flood forecasting system for the state of Iowa with other researchers at the Iowa Flood Center. Currently developing a research environment for hydrological modeling with researchers at the Iowa Flood Center, currently developing a cloud migration and cloud bursting system for flood forecasting and hydrological simulations with researchers at the Iowa Flood Center and Argonne National Labs Nimbus Team. From May 2011 to July 2014 (3 years 3 months) Teaching and Research Assistant @ Course instructor for two courses: Elementary Functions (Precalc) Graduate Numerical Analysis Exam Preparation Seminar Led discussion sections for mathematics courses, including Engineering Calculus II: Multi-Variable Calculus Graduate Numerical Analysis I and II Undergraduate Real Analysis Calculus I Mathematics for Business Calculus for Business Mathematics for the Biological Science Worked in the math tutor lab. Developed numerical solvers with the Iowa Flood Center.
