Scott Darling is the brother of current Calgary Flames goaltender, Roberto Luongo, who himself played with the Boston Bruins, Buffalo Sabres and Pittsburgh Penguins. He played with the Bruins in the 2004-05 NHL Season. Darling was drafted by the Boston Bruins in the 2nd round (56th overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.Darling played in six games with the Providence River Rats of the American Hockey League (AHL) in 2006-07, recording two assists and a minus-4 rating. He then signed with the Calgary Flames as a free agent on July 1, 2007.Darling was waived from the Flames on October 10, 2007, after making one appearance with the AHL's Stockton Heat. He was then assigned to the American Hockey League's Tucson Roadrunners. Darling was claimed off waivers by the Calgary Flames on October 15, 2007. He made his NHL debut on October 17, 2007, in a game against the New York Rangers. Darling recorded his first NHL goal on October 20, 2007, in a game against the Tampa Bay Lightning. He then became the backup goaltender to Jaroslav Halak on November 1, 2007.Scott Darling recorded his first shutout in a victory against the Edmonton Oilers on November 4, 2007. He became the starting goaltender on November 25, 2007, in a game against the Boston Bruins. On December 2, 2007, he was traded to the Hartford Whalers in exchange for a fifth round pick in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.Darling played in the Calder Cup Playoffs with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers during the 2007-08 regular season. He played in five games with the Sound Tigers, winning two and losing four. On July 1, 2009, he was signed to a three-year, entry-level contract with the Boston Bruins.Darling was waived by the Bruins on October 10, 2009, after making one appearance with the AHL's Stockton Heat.
