After growing up in a small town in Oklahoma, Scott Shields began his engineering career at Electronic Data Systems in 1984. At EDS, Scott was a senior engineer responsible for the manufacture and installations of high-performance midrange computers. He left Electronic Data Systems to join Sun Microsystems in 1989, where he was a systems engineer responsible for the manufacture of SunOS mainframe systems.Scott found his niche at Sun Microsystems as a senior systems engineer working on the development of SunOS 5, 6, and 7 systems.
