From 2005 to 2007 (2 years) Program Director, Responsible Purchasing Network @ Center for a New American Dream Launched the Center for a New American Dream's Responsible Purchasing Network, which helped leverage the power of large volume purchasers to improve the environmental and social performance of the products they bought. Worked extensively with purchasing professionals, industry executives, and non-profit experts to develop standards and purchasing specifications for more environmentally and socially responsible products and services. From January 2001 to May 2005 (4 years 5 months) Executive Director @ EcoLogo Program -- by TerraChoice As part of my role at TerraChoice, I managed the growth and expansion of EcoLogo, North America's premiere environmental standard setting and certification program. EcoLogo makes it easy to find more environmentally preferable products and servcies. Established in 1988, the EcoLogo program has 120 EcoLogo standards and more than 7,500 EcoLogo certified products. EcoLogo was licensed to and managed by TerraChoice before being sold to UL Environment. From December 2008 to February 2010 (1 year 3 months) Vice President of Strategic Consulting @ Natural Marketing Institute (NMI) Served in a business development role to grow NMI's sustainability consulting practice, including leveraging NMI's 25-years of consumer insights to help companies make more money selling greener, healthier, and more sustainable products and services to more people around the world. From October 2014 to October 2015 (1 year 1 month) Harleysville, PAConsultant and Subject Matter Expert @ Blu Skye Consulting Consulted with Walmart and some of its key suppliers to profitably integrate environmental and social considerations into its routine business practices. Work included training buyers, assisting the marketing department, facilitating sustainable value networks, and providing insights for project-specific business opportunities. From January 2006 to April 2008 (2 years 4 months) Senior Consultant @ Shelton Group, Inc. A short-term, part-time contract position to help select companies tell their sustainabilty stories in more compelling, effective, and profitable ways. Shelton Group remains the premiere sustainability-focused markert research, marketing, advertising, and communications firm. From November 2018 to June 2019 (8 months) Knoxville, TennesseeSenior Consultant @ ERG Was a senior consultant for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Green Chemistry, Design for the Environment, Energy Star, Buy Recycled, Environmentally Preferable Purchasing, and other programs. Also worked closely with Department of Interior and Department of Defense clients. From April 1996 to January 2001 (4 years 10 months) Vice President @ TerraChoice Environmental Marketing Worked to connect purchasers seeking more environmentally and socially responsible products with the manufacturers who supply them.Was instrumental in rapidly generating demand for and growing TerraChoice's client base in the United States.Facilitated the sale of TerraChoice/ECOLOGO to UL in August 2010. From April 2007 to October 2014 (7 years 7 months) Owner @ Responsible Sourcing Solutions Helping organizations profitably integrate environmental and social considerations into their business strategy, operations, marketing, and supply chain management practices.Projects have included:WALMART -- Supported the launch and early implementation of Walmart's environmental sustainability initiatives from January 2006 - April 2008 as part of the Blu Skye Consulting team. Project involved executive training, strategy development, buyer education, and working with many of Walmart's Tier-1 suppliers on related sustainability initiatives. EPEAT - Served as the first marketing director during the Green Electronics Council's launch of the EPEAT green computer standard from 2005 - 2007.National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS) - Created a "sustainability toolkit" for NACS members highlighting how c-store chains are embracing sustainability strategies to reduce costs, improve investor relations, and enhance their customer- and employee-engagement metrics.KEYNOTE ADDRESSES - Have delivered keynote addresses and participated on panels at conferences and trades shows in more than 20 countries and in 48 of the 50 U.S. states.ADVISORY SERVICES - Have helped more than 100 organizations enhance their internal people, planning, and processes so that they can make a positive impact on the world, make more money, or make more money doing good.
