Sary Alkayyali has a long and illustrious career as an education activist. For the past few years she has been working as a teacher and business administrator in Malaysia. On March 2, 2018, Sary Alkayyali was appointed as the acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Malaysian Education Authority (Meka). Sary's appointment came in the backdrop of the raging current of education policies and reforms in the Malaysian government.Education ActivismSary Alkayyali began her education activism in the early 1990s when she graduated from the Applied Science University with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering. Alkayyali has been working as a teacher and business administrator in Malaysia ever since.When Sary Alkayyali was appointed as the acting CEO of the Malaysian Education Authority (Meka), she quickly realized that the current educational policies and reforms in the Malaysian government were not going to be resolved through peaceful protests or dialogue.
