I am a web developer, designer, and educator working in Toronto, originally from the US. I love teaching, writing code, and translating vision into implementation.
I may soon be seeking new full-time or contract opportunities, flexible to relocation within the US or Canada. Right now, I am working on a set of software projects that are of great personal importance to me, which will keep me busy until Jan or Feb of 2016.
I have 4 years experience in web development - primarily focused on front-end development for small businesses and non-profits. Most of the sites I've built use a combination of PHP/SQL, Javascript/jQuery, Python, Ruby, and HTML/CSS. Some utilize frameworks like Laravel, Wordpress, OpenCart, Django, CakePHP, Yii, or others depending on the needs of the final project and existing code. In this area, I have also conducted social media campaigns to drive customer/audience engagement and delivered educational seminars/webinars on technical issues.
I also have 4 years of experience in education. My position at Merit Education (1 yr) included tutoring and business development for a private education company. I worked for 3 years as a proctor and tutor with the Harvard Summer School, I co-founded an autism awareness and outreach group at Harvard (HURAA, 2013), and I taught seminars in leadership conferences in Taiwan (HTLC, 2010) and Beijing (HSYLC, 2012).
I have had the privilege of working with some truly amazing people, and I continue to learn something new every day. I take great interest in optimizing the culture and performance of any team that I work with.
