I hold in my hand an Apple magic mouse that connects the many million nuts, bolts, and pieces that have direct influence over the power of the consumer's buying decisions in subconscious or not-so-subtle ways... and I am not afraid to use it! Originally from New York, I transplanted to San Francisco to soak in and season myself further in the technical aspects of web/mobile/app design. A jetsetter and go-getter, I have worked with numerous ad agencies and startups across the United States through the 4A’s MAIP program in both consumer and healthcare specialties. My driven attitude, efficient hands, and quirky personality brings fresh perspective when seeding intuitive UX, sprouting smarter interface design to keep up with modern trends, and sprinkling interactive engagements for returns to service strategy needs and results for brand products/services. *** Get the full taste @ samanthali.comFreelance UI @ "Let's democratize commerce." This is the mantra that I'm proud to chant on at Symphony Commerce – a startup that sets up and enables any brand company to have access to a wide network of crafted tools and expertise, from initial online shopping > inventory > fulfillment > delivery in one full cohesive tied-in shopper experience. As the sole UI Designer working alongside our team of developers and engineers, I handle the storefront launch, onboarding, and integration of numerous client brands in fashion apparel and consumables. I ensure the redesigns of existing brand sites are well-translated for best UX practices in the ecommerce space under our product platform to up customer conversion rate results. From September 2015 to Present (2 months) San Francisco Bay AreaDigital Art Director @ Transplanting out to San Francisco on a whim, I embarked on a new chapter doing fully interactive work with a touch of technology. Before Giant exploded from an original 50 people to a count of 150+, I partnered closely with interactive management leads to seed meaningful user experiences via discovery whiteboard sessions, sitemap creations, and wireframe mockups even before a UX department was established. On the user interface front, I have spit out countless iterations of UI designs that are not just "pretty eye candy", but serves purposeful functionalities that match up to what is currently out in the world in everyday intuitive best practice uses. With a thumbs up attitude when partnering closely with Dev partners on the Veeva iRep platform, I am able to do light source file code pushes via Github and perform Salesforce sandbox migrations and set login permission settings. Super solid in keeping technical understanding in the importance of establishing tracking and data analytics up front, I bring BRAINS to the beauty when it comes to experiential design. Projects touched are pretty colorful in spectrum: Responsive desktop/mobile website overhauls, UX collaboration in wireframe and prototyping, Interactive convention display module panels, Veeva iRep tablet applications, Open-source Android gaming, Eblast and banner driver blowouts, Github repository code/asset pushes, Salesforce migration/engineering, and internal blue sky side projects to grow my proficiencies in HTML/CSS/Javascript implementation. Also organized many types of potlucks, played many antics on my poor cubemates, won the halloween costume + pumpkin carving contest, petted puppies, and participated in a Giant band with my secret undiscovered vocal singing talents. Love checking off bucket lists, lalala! From April 2013 to September 2015 (2 years 6 months) San Francisco Bay AreaSenior Art Director @ "Make sure you travel before you start doing the 9 to 5." 15 hours later on a nonstop flight, I landed in Hong Kong for a few months to reconnect with my relatives and learned priceless life lessons about my roots and ancestry. Once fully nourished and ready to roll, I snagged an Art Director job in healthcare advertising to bring my hybrid skillsets to full bloom - full campaign launches, branding redesigns, print collateral, website facelifts, traffic drivers, tradeshow displays and outdoors. Hard skills aside, the talented pool of people I jived with turned months into anniversaries – which lead me to wear new hats along the way when promoted to Senior Art Director. I was elevated from an executional level to a more conceptual thinker to grow agency business in relation to brand strategy needs. I became the sole lead on multiple Amgen and Pfizer brands and directly advised, partnered, and entertained punny brand jokes with clients directly across the street from us. On my last big bang project at CDM with a mission impossible timeline – I lead, managed, and tagteammed with designers, illustrators, and freelancers to launch the first ever Viagra iPad selling tool app right before moving out to the west coast to start a new chapter in my career and life. From March 2009 to April 2013 (4 years 2 months) Greater New York City AreaArt Direction Intern @ Did MAIP again and got flown to Atlanta for the summer. Was apart of a photoshoot for Publix supermarket campaign work where food designers molded okras, spinach and eggplant slices into a full on tropical bird. Went to my first audio recording and heard lots of stories about Keisha Cole. Learned a lot about black hair products but never got to try them on myself. Clients reached: Publix | Luster's | BMW | Matlock Website From June 2008 to August 2008 (3 months) Greater Atlanta AreaPackaging Design Intern @ Showed how to render the Jose Cuervo margarita mix lady 10 different ways before the clients were happy with the way she looked. Made lots of mood boards. Most important thing I found out? Packaging designs are always fun to hold in my hand, but I didn't want to limit myself only to what I could see on a shelf. And that's okay! Clients reached: Jose Cuervo | Heineken | Amstel Light | Koleston From January 2008 to May 2008 (5 months) Greater New York City AreaInteractive/Digital Intern @ Got into the 4A's MAIP intern program and was sent to Chicago with 15 other interns living in the same dorms and working for multiple agencies which we visited. It was like the Real World but for Ad students. Drank a lot of Pepsi and plastered a 4 walled room with all the route maps for Celebrity Cruises. Do you know what the thing I miss most is? The magnificent views from the Aon center where I can look over Millennium Park and the silver Cloud bean statue with a mouthful of deep dish pizza. Clients reached: Pepsi Tava | Quaker Oatmeal Simple Harvest | Celebrity Cruises | Element 79 Film Festival From June 2007 to August 2007 (3 months) Greater Chicago AreaArt/Web Intern @ It was an honor to be involved with the Keep a Child Alive program, which featured Alicia Keys as an AIDS ambassador. Became much more aware of the fact that even if I am not experiencing certain situations happening in my own circle, doesn't mean it is not happening in somebody else's reality. Clients reached: Keep A Child Alive | Sagatiba Rum From December 2006 to January 2007 (2 months) Greater New York City AreaInteractive/Digital Intern @ Grabbed the opportunity to be 1 of 15 interns who concepted executed and pitched to the partners on how to revamp their recruitment program for new hires. And my group won! That was the last summer right before Draft merged in with FCB – I really enjoyed their free in house coffee bar. Clients reached: Wisk Dual Action | Snuggle | Verizon | Draftfcb Recruitment Revamp From June 2006 to August 2006 (3 months) Greater New York City AreaArt Direction Intern @ 18 and already ambitious – spent a year silhouetting out hair strands and retouching wrinkles. Mastered the Xacto knife for comp finishes while running on 4 hours of sleep a night finishing up on projects for school. Sad to say I have still never been to Disneyland! Clients reached: Disney on Ice | Sweet N Low | Sugar in the Raw | Matrix Biolage | Sawgrass Mills From July 2005 to July 2006 (1 year 1 month) Greater New York City AreaFreelancer @ Vella Scooter Fashion Line: Logo design. Likey Laundromat: Poster/flyer and in-store design. The Mulatto Manifesto: Book layouts on mixed races. Influence Expansion (XynoMedia): Created logos, business cards, and holiday cards.
