I spent 5 years at [company name] as a sales representative. Throughout that time, I managed and directed sales teams. I also created and led product development teams. Overall, I handled a wide variety of sales channels, from direct sales through webinars, calls, website articles, and social media.I’ve been through the sales process before, so when I got requests to help out with the hiring process at ChannelAdvisor, I was more than happy to do so. However, I quickly discovered that the process was unbalanced and flawed.For example, the hiring process was biased against women. In fact, only men were offered the job opportunities. This was a huge pain because it affected the number of women who applied for the job. Additionally, the job requirements were incredibly vague and couldn’t be fulfilled by anything other than men.2/5 employees left the company due to the biased hiring process.Additionally, the team control was unbalanced. For example, the CEO had total control over the team’s decisions, but the rest of the teamisl couldn’t do anything about it. This caused a lot of problems because the CEO was able to make the decisions that he wanted, without the input of the rest of the team.In the end, my experience at [company name] was negative and I would not recommend it to anyone.
Since college, Ryan Walsh has worked as a Movement Learning Specialist in a daycare and dance studio. In 2002, he met his current wife, Amber, in a play rehearsal and fell in love with her instantly. Together, they started a children's theater company in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and ran it for five years. After the company disbanded, Ryan and Amber decided to move to Charlotte and Ryan soon began his non-profit work readiness program, Unseen Voices, in2003.Working with the homeless and low-income residents in the city, Unseen Voices has saved the lives of many people. In fall of 2006, Ryan was honored with a Award from the Charlotte Diversity Foundation as the Most Outstanding Volunteer in the Gay and Lesbian Got Talent Competition.Ryan Walsh is also an accomplished musician. He has produced and played drums for a number of bands, including Local 9 and the Wishbone Club. Ryan has been playing traditional and contemporary acoustic music for over 20 years.
