💼 Past Experience

After completing his undergraduate degree in sports administration and marketing from San Diego State University, Ryan Owen worked for the now defunct American Hockey League (AHL) franchise, the Hershey Bears. He then spent two seasons as the Assistant General Manager of the Bears affiliate, the Monarchs, before joining the Nike company in 2006.First in the Research and Development department, then, in 2007, he became a Senior Director of Staffing and Recruiting. There, he oversaw the company's efforts to build a internally-based talent acquisition team. He initially worked with Nike's global clients but, over time, he has acquired skillsets with a clients focused in areas such as collegiate athletics, hospitality, and sportswear.Previously, Ryan Owen held the positions of Regional Vice President of Staffing and Recruiting for the Americas and then Vice President of Staffing and Recruiting for the Europe and Pacific region. He also had a two-year stint as the Manager of Nike Talent Solutions.In his current role at Antal International, Ryan Owen is responsible for managing and expanding Antal's network of talent acquisitionsists. He also has a primary focus on driving business growth through the development and successful execution of talent-centric strategies.Overall, Ryan Owen feels that he has learned a great deal in his time at Nike and Antal International. He has observed that, for Nike, technical innovation and the Holy Grail of human resources are inseparable. He has also noted that, in the staffing andrecruiting industry, the trend is towards a more decentralized model, where better communication and coordination are essential for success.Overall, I've had a great experience with Nike and Antal International. Ryan Owen grew up in Kentucky and loves Teaching and Learning as much as any other passion in his life. He has a B.A. in English from Lakenheath University, and an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from the University of Louisville. Ryan's love of education has been evident in his work throughout his career, where he has held positions as an English teacher and secondary school guidance counselor. While in his role as guidance counselor, Ryan teamed up with a class to create an interactive school project in which theymonitors the student’s academic progress andeloquence through a spoken language project. After experiencing the success of this project and being amazed at the power of student-led education, he decided to pursue a career in teaching.Since his certification as a Middle School Counselor, Ryan has imported his love of teaching and learning to his work as a Kindergarten Teacher. He began his journey in this position with the hope of helping kids be successful in school and gaining a deeper understanding of what makes kidshappy. What he found was that while every child is unique, there are common traits thatRepeat students respond powerfully to from Early Childhood Developmentalessions (ECD) to Grade 12th grade. By teaching these students in a fun and engaging way, Ryan was able to give his students the tools they need to thrive in school and make their voices heard. What’s more, through his work with First Grade students, he has learned thatSometimes what works for one student may not work for another, so he brings his Teach for America experience to each and every classroom he visits. Ryan’s passion for teaching and learning is evident in every interaction he has with students and every class he teaches.Since his certification as a Kindergarten Teacher, Ryan has imported his love of teaching and learning to his work as a Elementary School Teacher. What he finds to be the most challenging part of this position is that he has to constantly create content that is engaging and fun for kids to learn. To make sure that the content is age-appropriate and relevant to the kids in his classes, he masters different strategies, such as video production, to make sure that his lessons are interesting and engaging for his students. Through his experiences as a Elementary School Teacher, Ryan has developed a client-centered approach to teaching and learned how toriganate individualized instruction to meet the needs of each student.With a career in education in his sights, Ryan took to the job market to learn more about teaching. By taking a classroom based learning approach to a Reading Success program, he was able to refine his methods and techniques that he used in his past jobs to teach third-graders how to read. While Ryan learned a great deal from this experience, the biggest takeaway was that he wants to be a part of a team and help his students process information in an engaging and meaningful way.Today, Ryan Owen is a full-time teacher with a passion for teaching and learning, and he realizes that teaching is the perfect job for someone with his early childhood experience. Ryan loves working with kids, and he is excited to offer his skills and knowledge to the many classrooms he visits each day.
