I contacted local restaurateurs and chefs to determine that the information intended for publication in any given article was accurate and truthful. My responsibilities included researching St. Louis establishments and editing content to be approved by the Contributing Editor. From December 2012 to October 2014 (1 year 11 months) Freelance Writer @ I contributed as a freelance writer, composing 500 word articles that focus on providing relevant personal finance advice to women, such as how to manage debt or improve one's credit score. I consulted and interviewed financial experts when appropriate. From March 2013 to August 2013 (6 months) President @ I oversaw the staff writers for WashU's Her Campus branch, coordinating and editing the website's daily content. I corresponded with Her Campus nationals to ensure that WashU's Her Campus branch was fulfilling its weekly guideline requirements and staying true to the Her Campus brand. Additionally, I updated Washington University's chapter of the Her Campus website with original content. I often interviewed fellow students and investigate newsworthy stories. From January 2011 to May 2013 (2 years 5 months) Web Editorial Intern @ I wrote articles and flipbooks for redbookmag.com with a focus on lifestyle news (food, health, personal growth, relationships and financial tips), consulting national experts when appropriate. I communicated with the SEO and syndication teams to optimize articles; numerous articles I wrote were picked up for syndication by Yahoo!Shine and MSN Living. I used HTML coding to build articles and blogs on Hearst's content management system, Magnus. I also used Photoshop to cut and format images for redbookmag.com. Additionally, I collaborated with the Senior Web Editor and Assistant Web Editor each week to create a weekly and monthly schedule of content for the website. Lastly, I collected information pertaining to breaking news and celebrity gossip for an internal "Daily Clips" email that was circulated to Redbook staff each morning. From June 2012 to August 2012 (3 months) Editorial Intern @ I wrote articles for stlmag.com, as well as the print magazine, oftentimes interviewing local experts and residents for their unique or expert perspectives. I contacted publicists to inquire about press releases to ensure that St. Louis Magazine continued to provide relevant and newsworthy content, both online and in print. I synthesized national news as well as local events to present information to the magazine's readership that was consistent with the brand's voice. From September 2011 to December 2011 (4 months) Greater St. Louis AreaCampus Ambassador @ I helped launch “Bonfyre,” a location-based Smartphone application exclusive to college students, achieving nearly 15% adoption rate for WUSTL undergraduates within two months. I integrated guerrilla, social media, word-of-mouth and event marketing strategies and tactics to facilitate partnerships with student groups and philanthropy organizations. I also spearheaded and obtained several campus press placements for university student newspaper (Student Life) and Her Campus WashU to highlight the success of the Bonfyre campaign. From September 2011 to December 2011 (4 months) Editorial intern @ I wrote 250-600 word articles for the magazine's website, adhering to the BlackBook Style Guide. I was also responsible for updating BlackBook's City Guides with original reviews and primary information, as well as managing BlackBook's social media sites, such as Twitter and Facebook. I populated mobile applications with editorial content to create complex associations between BlackBook's mobile app services and a national liquor company. I regularly transcribed interviews and handled various editing tasks, such as copy-editing, proofreading and regulating comments using BlackBook's Expression Engine. From May 2011 to August 2011 (4 months) Office Assistant @ I managed and edited the Alumni Association website to maximize clarity, accessibility and efficiency. I also edited the Alumni Directory, both on the computer and the corresponding hard copy. I was also responsible for creating Alumni Clubs for various regional areas using an online networking service and I created and sent invitations to alumni for upcoming regional events. From January 2010 to May 2011 (1 year 5 months) Sales Intern @ I counseled customers, both on the telephone and through email, as they created accounts on Bunk1's website.
