RF troubleshooting for redesign of a TRM (transmit-receive module) PCB (Printed Circuit Board) for the C-band (5.0 – 6.0 GHz) APAR (Airborne Phased Array Radar), a new generation research weather radar having both dual Doppler and dual polarization capability. Technical tasks include extensive RF troubleshooting the APAR TRM, a large and complex 11-layer, RF PCB design with over 1300 components. The PCB is comprised of 8 individual, dual polarization TRM's comprised of MMICs, including FPGA digital control circuitry. RF TRM receiver measurements were made using an Agilent N5222A PNA Microwave Network Analyzer using my custom microwave RF test fixture connections. RF pulse power measurements for the TRM transmitter circuitry were made using the Agilent E82570 Pulse Generator and N1912A Peak Power meter.
