💼 Past Experience
Born and raised in San Diego, CA, Robbie Valentine first became interested in engineering when he was a fifth grader. After a four-year stay in the military, Robbie returned to school and studied electrical engineering at UC San Diego. He spent his undergraduate years working in software engineering at Quartus Engineering, where he helped create Altium designer and develop embedded software for various platforms including Altium, Xilinx FPGAs/SoCs, and Vivado SDKs.Then, in 2005, Robbie moved to San Diego and worked as an electrical engineer intern at Avocent. There, he developed hardware tested and implemented custom UART in VHDL using Altera hardware. He then transferred to Dynetics, Inc., and worked as a hardware design engineer for digital/discrete circuits, designs incorporating both microcontrollers and FPGAs, and schematic capture (Altium). In order to better understands the manufacturing process, he also worked on developing product design andtest equipment. In September 2015, Robbie started at Rising Edge Industries, a startup focused on developing improved shock-hardened data recorders. He was responsible for developing product designs, troubleshooting hardware and PCBs, and helping to support the uBlaze embedded processor. He also moved to San Diego in May 2017 to work at L3 Telemetry West. Here, he helped to develop firmware for embedded C (PIC microcontrollers) and VHDL (Altera, Xilinx and Actel). In addition, he helped to support the company's USB embedded communication Challenges. At L3 Telemetry West, Robbie is joined by another engineer, John Russo, in helping to troubleshoot hardware and associated software. Together, they strive to improve the quality of product design and to provide support for uBlaze.
