💼 Past Experience

Early YearsBorn in 1958 in the Bronx, New York City, Rob Salafia’s early years were curriculum- and family-integrated. He attended public schools and then graduated from the City College of New York with a degree in arts and humanities in 1976. His focus as an undergraduate shifted to creative writing as a distraction from his need to focus on his academics. Soon after, he decided to focus on his writing and narrowed down his focus to short fiction. After finishing his undergraduate studies, he moved to Boston, MA and started writing short stories for The New Yorker.He entered associateship at Wasserstein, a law firm in Boston. Salafia worked his way up through the ranks, gaining experience in various areas of the company. In 1990, Salafia left Wasserstein to become a Management Consultant at McKinsey & Company. He worked at McKinsey until his appointment as the Executive Vice President at Authentic Leadership Institute in January 2013.In 1995, when Salafia was thirty-six years old and a Harvard undergraduate, he was the youngest person ever inducted into the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He was Master Executive Coach at the MIT Leadership Center from February 1997 to February 2001. At the Leadership Center, he was involved in developing and highly effective leadership programs for companies, organizations, and schools.In January 2001, Salafia left MIT to join Protagonist Consulting Group as the Executive Vice President. Salafia’s role at Protagonist Consulting Group was to provide Pan-American and international consulting services. Salafia was responsible for creating and implementing personal change programs for clients.In January 2013, Salafia was appointed as the Senior Consultant and Director of Client Relations at The Ariel Group. At The Ariel Group, Salafia was responsible for developing, managing, and leading the company’s customer relations strategy.Salafia currently exists as anAKA speaker and various performer throughout the New York City and New Jersey areas. He has been featured on a variety of talk shows, including “The Today Show,” “The FOX Business Network,” and “The White House Press Corps.”

Salafia has a graduate degree in executive coaching from William James College in October 2022 and a Master's of Science in Organization Policy from Boston University in October 1997. Additionally, Salafia has a BA in geography from Clark University in October 1972. Rob Salafia has had a long, varied career as an author, storyteller, and executive coach. Salafia began his journey as a instructor and lecturer at the University of Utah, where he currently teachesmaster executive coaching. Salafia has also written numerous books and articles on leadership, personal growth, and change. Salafia currently serves as a principle at thoughtLEADERS, LLC, where he oversees and executes the company's day-to-day operations. Salafia is also an artist, performing as an artist at ShowStoppers from January 1977 to January 2001.
