DXR: What started out as a passion for design turned into a career for you?Rick Webb: I always loved design and started making prints as a way to get into the design industry. at Timehop I was the COO, which was a really great position to have. I always loved working with technology and the way it could help us do our jobs more efficiently. I also got a lot of experience with advertising and marketing, which was really helpful. After Timehop, I moved to Nimbus and worked there for a while as the COO. That was a really great experience because I was able to run the business while also working on my creative side. In 2012, I left Nimbus to start my own company, The Barbarian Group LLC. That was a really big change because it was my first company and I was really starting to take my career to the next level. I worked for09-year stint at Ernst & Young, where I did a lot of marketing design, executive director role, and also worked with advertising and product development. That was really helpful in terms of my experience and knowledge. After that, I started the involuntarily atQuotidian Ventures and then atPercolate Inc. for a little bit before I left in December of 2014 to start my own company, DXR.DXR: What do you think sets DXR apart from other design companies?Rick Webb: One of the things that sets DXR apart is our focus on happiness. We are always looking for ways to make our employees happier and more satisfied. We also have a really great culture here where everyone is focused on making a difference in the company. We have a great lunchtime atmosphere and our employees are always happy and commuting to work is ok. We also try to keep to a low overhead costs so that we can have a lot of freedom to focus on the product.
Rick Webb graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics in 1990. He then attended the University of Utah for two years, earning a B.S. in computer science in 1992. After his two years at the University of Utah, Rick moved to Stanford, California to continue his education. At Stanford, Rick earned a Master of Science degree in Economics in 1996. Rick has since worked as a software engineer and computer scientist.Rick's work readiness based on his past education is excellent. Rick has a strong background in economics and computer science, which conjunction with his previous education has allowed him to develop strong skills in these areas. Rick is regularlyutualized with different conferences and workshops, which demonstrates his strong work readiness. Rick has also been a part-time member of the Stanford economics club and has helped tutor young people in the Math and Computer Science departments. Rick's work readiness is well-prepared for the career he wants to pursue.
