In June 2013 shortly after taking on this role the CFO departed the company, and I was asked to assume the CFO responsibilities on an interim basis. I served in both roles for nearly a year. Using my public accounting experience, I was able to successfully lead the team to meet all required reporting deadlines, build out a consistent monthly internal and external financial reporting process, and facilitate the completion of the external audit.
During my time in this role, I contributed to and led the Finance team to build out and finalize a financial reporting/consolidation process and system, finish the cut-over from a transition services arrangement to a separate information system, finalize purchase accounting on the original carve-out acquisition, as well as finalize additional purchase accounting requirements for two acquisitions that closed during 2011. I have addressed a number of different technical accounting matters including topics like valuations, impairments, share-based compensation, accounting and reporting under IFRS, and accounting for income taxes. From September 2011 to April 2013 (1 year 8 months) Senior Manager @ As a senior manager in audit, my primary responsibilities were to: Deliver external audit and professional services to a number of clients in a wide range of industries (for both public and private companies) including manufacturing, distribution, financial services, software and technology; Develop and execute the audit approach, oversee engagement fieldwork and engagement teams, supervise and coach team members, perform and deliver performance appraisals and annual evaluations, coordinate with various partners, teams, and other offices for resources, and coordinate with client personnel; and Build client service relationships through taking ownership and being actively involved in the entire service relationship; lead meetings with all levels of client management addressing items such as significant management or accounting issues, audit matters, fee negotiations and proposals for existing or future services; and present to audit committees and other senior executives
I have significant SEC reporting experience, including public offerings on Form S-1 and S-3, carve-out audits, international companies and international financial reporting standards, acquisition/post-acquisition audits. I also have familiarity with Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, planned and performed 404 audit procedures and addressed implementation and scoping issues on multiple clients in various industries. I gained leadership experience driving internal initiatives within the assurance practice in Philadelphia through developing team-oriented goals with individual accountability, facilitating meetings throughout the year to identify and resolve business issues to achieve goals, and evaluating team performance against the goals.
During this period I also worked in Florham Park, NJ, Rochester, NY, Virginia Beach, VA, and Richmond VA. For the period from October 2001 to April 2003, I worked for KPMG Norfolk, VA after KPMG purchased the PwC Virginia Beach, VA office.
