As SVP & CFO I am responsible for finance and accounting, IT, strategic planning, acquisitions and supply chain. Member of Advisory Business Board and Board of Directors.. From January 2012 to Present (3 years 10 months) Ogden, UtahVice President of Finance, CFO and Treasurer @ Ciao Bella is a premium ice cream company and private equity owned with a strong entrepreneurial culture growing at +30% annually and executing a national expansion to major supermarket chains and mass merchandisers. I was responsible for finance, accounting, banking/cash flow, HR, IT and company gelato shops and supervised a staff of nine.
Key accomplishments include restoring company profitability by partnering with the CEO to financially and structurally re-engineer manufacturing, warehousing, direct store delivery and organization staffing. This resulted in achieving a multi- million dollar operations efficiency improvement while accelerating retail investment spending for increased distribution. Working capital funding has been secured by negotiating an asset based bank loan and managing several preferred stock offerings. From 2008 to 2011 (3 years) Florham Park, NJEVP and Chief Financial Officer @ Horizon Group is a $150 million consumer wholesaler/manufacturer of crafts and toys to Target, Wal-Mart and Michaels Stores. I was responsible for finance, banking, administration, IT, supply chain, quality control and HR while supervising five managers and a staff of 35 in this 250 employee company.
Sales grew from $40 to $150 million with consistent GAAP profits during my tenure. To drive growth in this highly creative marketing culture we upgraded key operations and finance functions including purchasing and cash forecasting, annual operating plans and product margin profitability analysis. Funding for this highly leveraged business was secured by transitioning from factoring to asset based borrowing by negotiating a $30 million credit facility with new lender PNC Bank. This provided working capital to open a Shanghai sourcing office and develop a 75 contract manufacturer supply chain throughout the Pacific Rim and India. From 2000 to 2008 (8 years) Warren, NJCorporate Controller @ Farberware was a $125 million entrepreneurial cookware manufacturing subsidiary of $10 billion Hanson PLC. Hanson was in the vanguard of incorporating the private equity model in running their businesses.
As Corporate Controller I was responsible for subsidiary GAAP and SEC financial reporting, budgets, marketing financial analysis, manufacturing cost accounting and taxes. I supervised a staff of 17 through five managers. From 1988 to 1992 (4 years) Bronx, NYAsst. Group Controller - Financial Reporting @ Sweetheart Products was a $750M sales, 10 manufacturing plants subsidiary of Ft. Howard Paper Co. I managed 50 staff through three managers – Financial Reporting; A/R-Credit and A/P. Key responsibilities included monthly financial closings, consolidations, account analysis, annual budgets and presentations to Sr. Management. .
