Collaborated with all business, product development, infrastructure, operations, security and regional teams to identify opportunities to improve the performance and availability of the PayPal sites and services. * Worked with the global marketing leaders to significantly improved the performance, availability and security of the International Marketing sites in >50 countries by implementing a Content Management System (CMS) behind the Akamai Content Delivery Network (CDN). * Drove a program to improve service performance improvement by consolidating multiple service applications into a single environment. * Enabled the delivery of services into new markets for multiple acquisition business units by enabling CDN configurations to improve the performance of their services to the level required in the new markets. * Supported the business and acquisition teams with >150 CDN (Akamai) changes that improved performance or functionality to PayPal customers. * Central Logging (Splunk) product Manager- Negotiated the Splunk contract to move to a more favorable and scalable pricing model and managed the logging and Splunk engineers to design and implement a central logging environment to support the eBay/PayPal company Split. * Managed Splunk Availability engineers to work with multiple internal teams to design and deploy enhanced monitoring of applications in order to quickly identify application and service issues. Solutions included real time CDN (Akamai) logging to enhance Network Operations Center (NOC) monitoring, real time identification of code issues by the Site Reliability team and real time validation of the results of site and CDN changes. * Worked with Splunk and Akamai to improve and implement real time logging capabilities, the team created and published the first Splunk App for Akamai and I was invited by Splunk and Akamai to present the solution at the Splunk and Akamai user conferences. From April 2013 to April 2016 (3 years 1 month) San Francisco Bay AreaSr. Mgr. Site Operations @ eBay Inc. Managed development teams that designed, deployed and supported the operational tools for NOC Monitoring of the eBay & PayPal sites, the Remedy ticketing system for operational changes and the Tivoli implementation for managing site systems. * The team worked with the Network Operations Center (NOC) and operations teams to identify comprehensive monitoring requirements, developed a new log gathering and presentation solution and significantly improved the NOC capabilities when it was implemented. * Moved to the newly created PayPal OPS organization in 2006 with half the monitoring team and replicated the new eBay monitoring solution for the PayPal Operations NOC. * Collaborated with operational and process teams to build system and service deployment processes for site capacity and new feature deployments. * Managed DBA and System administrator teams and was oversaw the Change Management and DR readiness programs. From 2004 to 2006 (2 years) San Francisco Bay AreaDir. Internet and Security Engineering @ Nortel Assembled and managed a team of >100 network, system and security engineers that was responsible for Security Architecture and redesign of all Internet facing systems, infrastructure and services. * The global team significantly improved the security capabilities while reducing reduced costs and increasing service availability and capability for regional customers. The program replaced >50 legacy ad-hoc implementations with a new integrated Security Services Architecture in 10 regional POPs. * The services supported >100k employees in >700 global offices, >20k remote workers and >30k vendor / partner clients. * The team designed, deployed and supported new architectures for Internet firewalls, Internet access/hosting, vendor/partner extranet access, employee VPN access, DNS, Active Directory, Identity Management, Single Sign-on, Unix NIS services and anti-SPAM solutions. * The team supported M&A integration efforts by collaborating with >30 acquired companies to implement secure and reliable designs, systems and services. From 2000 to 2004 (4 years) San Francisco Bay AreaManager, Network Operations @ BayNetworks, Inc.
