Dip T. (Primary), B. Ed., Gr. Dip (ICTE), M. Ed Studies Philip Callil is the Director of IT and eLearning at Yarra Valley Grammar. Prior to this, he has held positions as Director of Learning and Teaching at Mater Christi College, the Catholic Education Office Melbourne and was Faculty Head of ICT at Xavier College from 2001 to 2010. He is a passionate advocate of ICT innovation, the integration of digital learning in the curriculum and has extensive experience in the design of collaborative learning spaces. He initially trained as a primary teacher and was upper primary teacher for 12 years. Phil has taught subjects as diverse as Multimedia, Programming and Computer Studies in Year 10, Science, English and Maths Yr 5-8, ICT in Years 5 and 6 as well as Japanese. He was the President of the Victorian IT Teachers Association, the largest ICT in education group in Australia from 2010 to 2013. He has been an Apple Distinguished Educator since 2006. From 1999 to 2011, he had senior roles in the assessment management of the Learning Assessment Program (LAP), the Academic Improvement Monitor (AIM) and more recently in the English writing component in the National Australian Project for Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) in Victoria. In 2010, he participated in a short course entitled “The Future of Learning” at Harvard. In 2013, Phil visited South Korea as a guest of Samsung and later in the year, after an invitation from the Chinese Government, presented on the subject of ICT innovation in Australian education at an international conference in Wuhan, central China. He has also presented at international conferences in Singapore and New Zealand and visited schools in the US, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Sweden and the UK. From March 2014 to June 2014 (4 months) President @ In 2013, VITTA was the largest ICT in education teachers organisation in Australia with over 1600 members. After running a very successful annual conference and an outstanding ICT Skills Week and working hard to post a healthy profit for our financial year, VITTA merged with ICTEV to create a DLTV - Digital Learning and Teaching Victoria. DLTV will have over 2000 members in 2014.
