Paul Yang's education has spanned various television producer, software engineer, and educational administrator roles. He obtained his MSc in Computer Science from University of Toronto in 2002 while also holding a BSc in Computer Science from The University of British Columbia in 1997.After completing his MSc, Paul Yang worked as a software engineer at Telus Corporation in Canada before moving to the United States in 2006 and joining The University of Texas at Austin as an Instructor of Computer Science in 2007. He then moved to the University of Arizona as an instructor of Computer Science in 2010 and then to the University of Texas at Dallas as an Instructor of Computer Science in 2012.Since joining the UT Dallas faculty, Paul Yang has overseen the undergraduateuates programs in Computer Science, Earth and Planetary Sciences, Engineering, and Mathematics. He has also been variously responsible for leading the design and development of new UT Dallas Mellon Faculty Research Programs, and presiding over the department's first ever conference on "Computer Science and Mathematics for Interdisciplinary Studies" in November of 2016.In summer 2017, Paul Yang returned to Canada and accepted a visiting professorship at the University of Toronto's Mississauga campus. As a visiting professor, he will be teaching a course on "Bitcoin, Blockchain, and the Future of Education."Paul Yang's research interests extend beyond computer science. In particular, he specializes in riffling through data sets to find patterns and exploring how algorithms can be altered toSimplify poorly supervisedtask complexes.
