📖 Summary
Senior Product Developer @ ANDigital is a whole new concept in digital professional services. We call our approach Skaling; closing our clients' digital skills gap, while transforming their capacity to scale. We're designed to meet the needs of smart businesses who are seizing the opportunity to become fully digital businesses; the opportunity to grow steeply, to be agile, to be flexible and improvisational, to work seamlessly across multiple channels, to be suffused with customer information, to be responsive and to innovate in real-time. From October 2015 to Present (3 months) Software Developer @ I currently work in the Exchange API team at Betfair. This team works on all of the APIs that Betfair exposes externally and are based on the exchange. On top of that, we have several other projects - like the menu/navigation builder for the website (and a respective API for it), application/subscription management and validation as part of pricing rules for API customers and we are currently working on a streaming service that will replace the most frequent calls that customers perform on our current APIs - why let them poll constantly when you can feed them what they want/need? I have been involved in a lot of projects since I joined the team (and way too many technologies to list here) and have enhanced my troubleshooting skills greatly - starting from finding problems both in the code and at a platform or networking level, doing performance improvements, looking at really low level metrics to debug and fix problems to our APIs - which is a highly concurrent and highly distributed platform, but also as low latency as possible. Our average load during important sporting events is above 60k transactions per second. We are working in a Continuous Integration/Delivery environment and are at a stage where we are 1st level on call - so there's no safety net, we are dealing with incidents and customer queries on a weekly basis. Main technologies/tools we are using are: Java 7 and 8, Spring 3.x and 4.x (Core, AOP, JDBC), NodeJS, Guava, TestNG, Mockito, PowerMock, Jetty 9.x, Maven, Git, Chef, Nexus/YUM, Jenkins CI, GO Thoughtworks and many many more. From May 2014 to September 2015 (1 year 5 months) Software Developer @ Working on several projects (listed below) which are built on a platform developed in-house based on Spring and Web Services (Service Oriented Architecture). The most common technologies/tools I was using are: Spring, Tomcat/Jetty, Spring Core (+ AOP, MVC, REST and JDBC), Perforce, Maven, Jenkins, Chef, FTL, YML, SOAP, REST, JSON/XML, CMS, TDD, Agile and many more. Towards the end of the project I was mainly focusing on setting up everything that was needed so we can move to Continuous Delivery. I was also involved in other roles as well which helped me get a better understanding of the overall architecture and security of our systems. As a Security Champion, I need to make sure the components am I working on are secure from all points of view and I need to cascade my security knowledge to the team. As an Embedded Architect, I took care of the architecture of the applications (both software and system design) we are working on and bring improvements to our infrastructure (this can also mean getting rid of Technical Debt). From October 2011 to April 2014 (2 years 7 months) Java Developer @ I have worked on two projects during my stay at Arobs (detailed below: Business Plan and Friend Credit). The most common technologies I used were: GWT, Tomcat, Spring Core, JPA, JSF (with PrimeFaces integrated), MySQL, ANT and more. I had the chance to lead a team of interns while working on the Friend Credit project (held trainings, workshops, knowledge sharing sessions, acted as a technical lead). From July 2011 to September 2011 (3 months) Java Developer @ I have worked on two very different projects at Nokia: one was Automation Plugins where I only used Java Core and the other was Company Inventory (both detailed below) where I used GWT (with SmartGWT integrated) and MySQL. We worked in an Agile environment using Scrum and, as interns, tried to do TDD to the best of our knowledge :) From June 2010 to June 2011 (1 year 1 month) Bachelor, Computer Science, English, 9 @ "Babes-Bolyai" University of Cluj Napoca From 2008 to 2011 High School Diploma, Mathematics, Computer Science, English, 9.2 @ National College "Emil Racovita" Cluj-Napoca From 2003 to 2007 Paul Pop is skilled in: Spring, Maven, Java, Tomcat, Scrum, MySQL, JavaScript, REST, Web Services, AJAX, GWT, JUnit, Apache Kafka, Agile Methodologies, Amazon Web Services (AWS)
