Comfortable implementing algorithms from scratch or hacking together models with open source libraries. I'm also an active Kaggle competitor, and I've placed "in the money" at one competition and been ranked in the top 1% overall.Software Engineer @ Scout is a marketplace for matching recruiters with job openings. I'm a full-stack web developer, working on a Python/Flask application. Worked with our data science team to implement models for user rankings and to predict user behavior. Designed and implemented the architecture for an automated testing framework. From October 2014 to Present (1 year 3 months) Software Engineer @ Python developer building a web application for job recruiters to search multiple job boards at once (like kayak.com for recruiters). I helped implement a highly concurrent scraping framework, using gevent for multi-threading. Designed and implemented our MySQL database schema and optimized queries. Implemented our caching mechanism with MongoDB. Integrated application with our partner’s API. From March 2013 to October 2014 (1 year 8 months) Machine Learning Engineer @ I was a software engineer on the Machine Learning research team. I designed and implemented a POC for a competitor to IBM's Watson (a question-answering application). I used deep learning techniques to develop a English-to-SQL translation module. There were no popular libraries back then, so I implemented a deep learning framework for recursive neural nets and deep neural nets. We used Python and scikit-learn for the predictive models, and MongoDB and MySQL for the backend. I also implemented a recommendation engine for news articles, and developed a probabilistic method for dimensionality reduction using random reflexive indexing. From June 2011 to March 2013 (1 year 10 months) Paul Miller is skilled in: Python, Machine Learning, Ruby, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Natural Language Processing, MySQL, Data Science, MongoDB, Git, JavaScript, CSS, Ruby on Rails, HTML, Web Development, Web Applications
