Paul Barry-Walsh left IBM in 1986, after nine years, to form Safetynet which became one of the UK’s leading providers of Business Continuity Services. Paul went on to found Netstore in 1996.
In February 1999 he led the management buyout of his partner at Safetynet and became CEO and majority shareholder. During 2000 Safetynet was sold to Guardian IT. for £170 million.
Netstore floated on the main market in 2000 with Paul as Chairman. Netstore was sold to 2E2 in October 2008.
He founded Fredericks Foundation in 2001 which has gone on to become a leading microfinance organisation in the UK funding.
He is involved in a number of start ups including, Bluesource, Purpose Software and Farm Power Apollo, Meet and Jam,
He brought the ‘Dans le Noir’ dining in the dark concept restaurant to London. In 2014 Paul launched Frank Investments with Paul Sedgwick which gives high net worth individuals access to superior investment performance at minimal cost and maximum flexibility.
In May 2008 he was granted the Queens Award for Enterprise Promotion and in November 2008 he won a Beacon Award for Creative Giving.
In March 2009 he was awarded the CNBC /FT European Philanthropist of the Year and in 2011 voted by Entrepreneur Country the Entrepreneur’s Entrepreneur.
Paul is married to Jane and they have a daughter and a son.
