Ozlem is a data scientist consultant in Accenture’s Data Science Center of Excellence team.
At Accenture, Ozlem worked with clients primarily in financial services planning and executing data-driven analytics projects and utilizing advanced analytics techniques to mine client’s data in a big-data-enabled distributed computing platform.
Before joining Accenture, Ozlem was an astrophysics at NASA with extensive experience in analyzing and modeling large data sets collected by various instruments and in extracting meaningful, useful and interesting information. She also developed a lot of C++/Python code on Unix/Linux platforms to manipulate data using various statistical methods, and employed various visualization software to present the results. Ozlem has a Ph.D. in Physics and Astronomy from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA)
Data Scientist @ Project at a Government Credit Company – 2015
* Designed and implemented a powerful search tool for a business use case investigating fraud in millions of records involving real estate sale data.
* Configured and used Cloudera Search based on Apache Solr to index and search a large sized, structured and unstructured text data.
Project at a Large Insurance Company – 2014
* Applied deep learning algorithms, specifically convolutional neural networks using Python Theano libs, for image recognition and image classification.
* Achieved classification performance for the industry-relevant images comparable to the performance published in the computer vision literature for the standard image sets.
Project at a Large Global Diversified Financial Services Company – 2014
* Contributed to the design of five selected business use cases for launching a new analytic capability in the client. I defined the analytic foundations for each use case and recommended a data-driven analytic approach to achieve desired outcomes through:
** Selection of data relevant for the business objectives
** Recommendation of advanced analytical methods applicable to the problem
** Recommendation of execution requirements including technology, data science talents and time frame.
Project at a Large Global Insurance Company – 2014
* Applied advanced analytic techniques on various facets of insurance data utilizing a Hadoop platform. Activities are:
** Extracted pre-bind data, otherwise inaccessible for advanced analysis, from excel workbooks, and merged that data into relational database for combined analysis.
** Identified relationships and links between high profile customers using Pig/Hive to build a complete and connected view of clients and their assets to improve customer service provided to them.
** Processed free text formatted claims notes to profile, search, analyze and visualize various facets of claims data, using Apache Solr.
