Key Accomplishments:
- Redesigned IT Department, and introduced new outward-facing posts, business analysts, IT service manager & IT project manager, to provide closer links between IT and key stakeholders.
- Moved IT Team from London to Manchester, recruited 20 new staff and managed redundancy process for leavers.
- Implemented ITIL-based Service Desk to ensure high quality IT support, achieving excellent results from user surveys, including 96.9% satisfaction with the way calls are handled.
- Implemented strategic outsourcing of non-essential operational tasks to improve efficiency and focus on key services.
- Created a comprehensive IT service level agreement, and the mechanisms to measure KPIs.
- Developed robust business intelligence system to streamline MIS reporting and improve the speed and quality of responses to Parliamentary Questions and Freedom of Information requests.
- Deployed an enterprise-wide grant management system that replaced 9 separate systems and facilitated consistent grant delivery across organisation.
- Led a project to virtualise Arts Council servers, reducing number from 80 to 20, saving £50k per year, improving performance and reducing carbon footprint.
- Led a project to deliver on-line grants applications to improve accessibility to Arts Council services and create internal efficiencies (eg centralised grants team). From May 2005 to March 2010 (4 years 11 months) Head of IT @ CNWL is one of the largest Mental Health Trusts in the country with over 3000 employees working over 100 separate sites.
As Head of IT I led a team of 15 comprising; service desk team of 7, network team of 5 and systems team of 3. I had budget responsibility for £1M pa.
Key Accomplishments:
- Rolled out 300+ new PCs and deployed Windows 2000 to provide a standard platform for all staff and to provide more access to clinical IT systems
- Managed a successful bid for Strategic Health Authority funds - £250K - to improve infrastructure
- Led major infrastructure project to digitally connect all Trust sites
- Led a project to implement a Trust-wide intranet to promote better internal communications and provide access to online drug handbook which improved clinical outcomes..
- Saved £50k per annum in hardware support and licence costs by migrating staff onto National NHS email and directory system.
- Implemented drug management software to track and monitor more than £1m each year in medication spending and provided robust security system for automated methadone dispenser.
- Led an information governance group which made significant improvements in information and IT security across the organisation From October 2001 to May 2005 (3 years 8 months) IT Services Manager @ IT Servicedesk software provider with approximately 200 staff serving the UK and US markets (now operating as Touchpaper).
IT Services Manager: Managed all aspects of IT, providing key technical and support skills. Coordinated PC specifications with head of development and worked with sales director on hiring and growth plans. Coordinated PC orders and ensured delivery estimates were accurate. Monitored help desk support levels and ensured a high level of systems availability
