Grand Rapids, Michigan, Omar Tovar was born in Detroit, Michigan and moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan at the age of two. After graduating from Swinburne University in 2002 and earning a B.S. in business administration, Omar worked at two traditional businesses, auto parts dealerships and home builders. After being a manager and supervisor in the auto parts industry for two years, Omar joined his first corporate job, as an operations engineer at Mead-Johnson. There, he increased sales and increased profits. He then worked for Mars, Turner Broadcasting System, and Bendix Corporation. At Mead-Johnson, Omar helped create a global shipments program that reduced delivery times and improved accuracy. He also helped to develop new marketing campaigns and develop new distribution systems. Omar next worked as the vice president of international division at Gartner, where he managed a team of sales and marketing managers, as well as a group of sales development and sales presentation managers. After one year at Gartner, Omar worked as the assistant president of a marketing resellers organization.After six years of management experience, Omar landed his first professional job as a global supply chain executive at Nike. There, Omar was responsible for the global operations of Nike’s North America supply chain, including the distribution, transportation, origin consolidation, call centers, wholesale customer service, and trade compliance. In this position, Omar was also responsible for leading the entire Global Supply Chain TEAM. Omar held this position from May 2014 to March 2016 in Portland, Oregon. Omar's responsibilities included overseing the following areas in a Global capacity: Distribution, Transportation, Origin Consolidation, Call Centers, Wholesale Customer Service, and Trade Compliance. Regions include North America, EU, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Korea.
