Nicholas is the lead partner of EY's Strategic Growth and Acquisitions for the Advisory business based in Sydney.
Nicholas has accountability for identification of targets, alignment to current operations and future strategy within a business line, engagement and negotiation with targets, and with the assistance of a dedicated modelling team – valuations and future growth scenario modelling.
He has a unique ability to balance his detailed technical capabilities with strategic insights into the ‘big picture’ of data strategy and governance to achieve the most effective approach to data governance. Having worked extensively with global clients to align data governance frameworks to meet multi-jurisdictional regulatory requirements. Nicholas can also advise on data management policies and strategies that support efficient and effective use of data.
He has been instrumental in the design and development of digital strategy and analytic tools plus models for: work force planning and optimization; price, supply chain, and spend optimization analytics; procurement analytics and optimisation; balanced scorecards; continuous controls monitoring; and customer and market segmentation.

Designed to recognise the unique elements and features of how analytics is embedded into our current services and delivered to our clients across all Service Lines and Industries/Sectors.
Initial output identified four focus areas (Technology Enablement, IP development, Go To Market Strategy and Governance Structure) and culminated in the design, development and establishment of a Global Analytic Centre of Excellence.
Culminating in the release of our Global Analytics Playbook in March 2014 the team has moved the firm forward to aggressively embed analytics into all our service offerings, as well as invest in and deliver discreet analytic services. An analytics value chain, starting with the management of data, driving insights from analysis, to improving performance and enhancing decision making ability – has underpinned our strategic growth to date.
Nicholas continues to shape the strategic thinking and implementation around data analytics, cloud & Big Data both internally and for clients within the Asia Pacific region. With thought leadership covering, analytics, big data, cloud and digital strategy – he is seen as a thought leader within EY globally. He is also involved in the implementation and growth of analytics within the firm globally.
With focus on securing the right business outcomes for our clients, across all industries including financial services, natural resources, public sector, telecommunications, energy and utilities, retail, travel and transport. From July 2011 to November 2015 (4 years 5 months) Partner @ Nicholas is the Asia Pacific leader of Ernst & Young's Enterprise Intelligence team. He specialises in strategic thinking & practical solutions around the entire Data Life Cycle - including Data Governance, Compliance, Risk, Fraud & Forensics, Operational Analytics, Performance Improvement, Strategic Analytics & Modelling.
The new Enterprise Intelligence business helps clients’ master organisational information to allow management to make good strategic and operational decisions. We help to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, environmental, social and governance requirements and improve data reliability and accuracy.
Through the innovative use of statistical modelling and predictive analytics we help clients strategically consider socioeconomic and geopolitical influences such as carbon credit pricing, currency fluctuations, economic reforms, market segmentations and sanctions in emerging or aging economies, public sentiment (especially around the alignment of traditional corporate strategy to a green conscience).
Data Visualisation is leveraged to allow the combination and sharing of complex data sets containing diverse information such as public sentiment, financial, strategic, operational, and political influencers, to create easily understood and digestible insights. Finally we differentiate ourselves by Data Enrichment that looks to enhance organisational data with external data sources that support market segmentations, consumer habits, market forces and pricing influencers. From May 2011 to November 2015 (4 years 7 months) Sydney, AustraliaPartner @ Following a merger with Forensic Data in February 2008, Nicholas was appointed as the national lead partner for the Deloitte Forensic Technology group.
Nicholas was responsible for the management of twenty four expert technology staff, spread between offices in Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Melbourne, as well as several other support and project managemt personel.
Nicholas was also responsible for establishing and hosting monthly meetings for the Deloitte AFT (Analytics & Forensic Technology) asia pacific team – which brought together staff from China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Malaysia, India, Indonesia and others, to share information and co-ordinate Asia Pacific based projects, work and marketing efforts.
Nicholas also sat on the Deloitte Global AFT Executive as the Asia Pacific representative. This team also focused on establishing channels of communication, strategic thought leadership and the building of global alliances with vendors and other technology companies. From February 2008 to September 2010 (2 years 8 months) Sydney, AustraliaFounder and CEO @ Forensic Data® was established by Nicholas in 1998 and was Australia’s largest independent experts specialising solely in Data Recovery, Data Conversion, Electronic Discovery and Computer Forensics.
The firm was acknowledged as an industry leader in its field and consulted widely to both the government and non-government sectors.
Forensic Data® designed, developed and used their own software tools the proprietary imaging, analytical and recovery software that was constantly being upgraded to coincide with the emergence of new data storage media and operating systems.
Forensic Data® performed work for most major law firms, the ACCC, the ASIC, State and Federal governments, Department of Defence, most major accounting firms, State and Federal Police, schools, Universities, the National Archives of Australia, major banks, mining companies and insurance companies. The firm even provided specialist expertise in data conversion, data recovery and computer forensic services to several companies within the industry.
Forensic Data® maintained Australia’s most experienced data recovery and data conversion team with a wide range of the most specialised data retrieval and data conversion software in the country.
In addition to the forensic analysis of electronic storage media, Nicholas was involved with literally thousands of data recoveries. Utilising his knowledge and experience to recover lost or damaged data from both physical and logical failures on many forms of electronic storage media.
A regular speaker at professional engagements, Nicholas has given lectures, seminars and hosted workshops for many Senior IT and Risk Management experts, Lawyers, Police, Accountants, Underwriters and Insurers. These include the Asia Pacific Fraud Convention, Commercial Law Association and the Australian Fraud Summit. From June 1998 to January 2008 (9 years 8 months) Paralegal @ Nicholas studied law through the Barristers and Solicitors Admission Board and worked in the Health and Commercial Law Division of TressCox Solicitors while doing so.
During his 6 years with the firm Nicholas developed a sound knowledge and experience of common law litigation, personal injury cases, criminal prosecutions and commercial litigation, having had carriage and conduct of such matters in his time at TressCox.
Nicholas also specialised in all aspects of Legal Discovery for the matters being run within that division, from hard copy to electronic.
