Civic and environmental engagementNellie Swanepoel has over twelve years of experience in project management and corporate social responsibility. She is currently the founder and President of CareerJay, a water and wastewater treatment startup. In her previous work, she has played a pivotal role in setting up and running successive Kickstarter campaigns, as well as working on a number of corporate social responsibility initiatives for her previous employers.She states that her experience in project management and Corporate Social Responsibility has taught her a lot about how to effectively meet and exceed customer demands. Swanepoel has also learnt a great deal about workplace culture and how to build and maintain good relationships with key stakeholders.Swanepoel has also been involved in two significant social enterprises - the development of a water buffalo sanctuary in Zambia, and the Catskill Wetlands Restoration Project in New York. In both cases, she played a pivotal role in the project management and key stakeholders integration, and also developed and executed a number ofoutput grants anddonations. Since joining Sustain South Africa as the company’s Centenary Fellow on 1st January 2016, Nellie Swanepoel has been working to develop and maintain Sustain’s leadership capability in the region. She has worked as an Outside Services Representative for Sustain South Africa for the past five years and has also been an Aide to the Minister at the Department of Trade and Industry for two years. Nellie is a keynote speaker and speaker leader at many sustainability-based events across the African continent.She has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with Leadership and Sustainability from the University of Cumbria in England. She has also earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) Leadership and Sustainability from the University of Cumbria in England. Nellie Swanepoel is a graduate of the THED, Botany and Sociology at Potchefstroom College in South Africa.
