About Mikel Ganuza

📖 Summary

When I was at OS training, a great teacher opened my eyes showing me the potential of Linux and the Web, since that moment I realized computers were my passion and I decided to go ahead with my studies. From that time (2002) until today, Linux becomes the OS of my choice, although my interest for OS also covers MacOSX and Win. I was eager to demonstrate myself that I was able to turn into reality one of the many ideas I had in my mind. Before I had finished my studies, I decided to found a Startup with another partner. Being part of a Growth Acceleration Programme, we created our own service Jukenplay: a cool jukebox system for business, one of the things I'm most proud of. As a software development Startup, it also allowed us to work in multiple web projects for real customers gaining work experience in the IT industry. During all this time I learnt the importance of: • Agile development practices like Scrum or XP for team management • Test coverage code for QA results and maintainability, using either TDD or any other approach • Don't push any new features until you've validated the MVP • Put efforts in delivering high quality products that meet business requirements I love open-source technologies especially Python, Django and Mongodb. The curiosity to learn technologies has led me to SPA development with high-level JScript MV* frameworks such as Backbone & Angular. I've been always a Developer doing SysAdmin work, I'm interested in concepts like scalability, availability or performance and I'd love to have an opportunity to work as DevOps guy. I see myself as a start-up, hands-on, proactive, self-starter, problem solving and responsible person with ability to: • Learn fast and teach clearly • Work well autonomously as well as a part of a cross-functional team • Provide task estimations and deliver quality code on time • Getting things done with deliverable schedules and under pressureSenior Developer @ From January 2015 to Present (9 months) London, United KingdomCo-Founder and Computer Engineer @ » On a daily basis I was a scrum-player wearing many different hats. I adopted roles like: • Architecting and implementing web services as well as modelling relational (SQL) and non-relational (NoSQL) databases • Developing stuff on both sides, backend and frontend, using Django and Javascript techonologies respectively and deploying them to production • DevOps guy, optimizing the development workflow and automation of both, development and deployment process • Administrator of Django projects hosted on Heroku and Amazon AWS platforms • Research and apply of new technologies and best practices for improving quality in SDLC » I had the chance to participate in the whole process of the creation of our own service: Jukenplay, being participant in tasks like: • Design of the infrastructure and architecture of a music system that acts like a modern jukebox controlled from mobile devices • Development of desktop multi-platform client mainly developed on C language • Development of mobile applications, both Android native and hybrid using Javascript technologies under Apache Cordova framework • Development of real time client-server web applications using Node.js, Express.js and • Design and create HTTP API endpoints for internal consumption under Node.js, Express.js, Mongodb and Passport.js • Linux and Windows systems administration tasks From November 2012 to July 2014 (1 year 9 months) Las Palmas, SpainWeb Developer @ I did web development for different clients. Some of the most relevant projects I did was: • Blog installation and style customization (Wordpress/CSS) • Web application Development (Linux/Apache/MySQL/Python/Django) • Web development of a panel for invoices management (Linux/Apache/MySQL/Python/Django) From February 2011 to February 2012 (1 year 1 month) Self-employedResearch fellowship @ • Development and maintenance of an online interface for structured sets of texts managements. (LAMP/JavaScript/Ajax/Sphinx/Bash) • Efficient algorithm implementation for counting the number of appearances of each word in large texts which contains Junicode characters. (C/Unicode) From October 2009 to April 2010 (7 months) Las Palmas, SpainWeb GIS Developer Internship @ • Web application development for managing geolocated events in a College network, making use of Open-Source solutions.
