Ms. Plugarasu earned a Master's of Science in Global Strategic Communications, Advertising & Public Relations track, from Florida International University ( FIU) in 2011. In her role as Director, Strategic Initiatives & Communication at FIU's Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management, she is responsible for overseeing all communications and office operations including marketing, promotions, advertising, web and social media, public relations, administrative support staff, work/study student assistants, and analytics. In addition, Mihaela serves as a member of the Dean's senior leadership team, providing direct support to the Dean and the executive team by ensuring the implementation and management of key initiatives across the school related to the Dean's vision and mission, as well as FIU's Beyond Possible 2020 Strategic Plan. Under her leadership in the previous role, the Chaplin School's brand messaging and positioning improved significantly through successful accomplishment of massive projects such as E-merge Americas Technology Conference, international campus visits, industry conferences, media campaigns, new website launch, and institutional events, among others. In June 2014, Mihaela was appointed by President Rosenberg as one of ten IREAL Commissioners, charged with making recommendations for FIU's 2020 Strategic Plan. She continued to serve as a committee member on the IREAL Financial Base/ Efficiency Committee. Ms. Plugarasu has over 10 years of teaching experience in the areas of English as a Second Language (ESL/ESOL), elementary education and adult continuing education.
