Most recently with Disney’s Parks and Resorts Division, I became one of 3 COOs charged with driving smooth operations of the Parks and Resorts business segment. My direct responsibilities were for the Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Resort, and Disneyland Paris. This involved overseeing a workforce of over 100,000 cast members at 3 sites with direct accountability for 8 theme parks, 31 hotels, and large-scale retail, dining, and entertainment properties. In total this represented a significant share of the total revenue for the entire business segment. In addition to domestic and international operations, I had responsibility for the global lines of business which supported the entire parks and resorts division. These lines of business provided expertise in food and beverage, merchandise, hotel and park operations, entertainment, industrial engineering, safety, security, and facilities asset management.During my tenure, we undertook massive cultural change, which entailed leveraging best practices, enabling international expansion, and developing talent worldwide. This included driving a seismic cultural and organizational shift from operating as independent sites for decades to becoming a truly global organization. Another major change effort was the integration of the physical and digital experiences, first implemented at The Walt Disney World Resort.I was also privileged to serve as the company’s external facing leader representing Disney on local, state, and national levels. I was a keynote speaker at many engagements annually and served in executive leadership board positions for major community, state, and nonprofit endeavors.Upon my retirement, I received the highest honor Disney bestows – a dedicated window on Main Street, U.S.A. in the Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World Resort. It celebrates my legacy of mentoring and leadership development.
