This involves maintenance of our key product - a custom built, single-page application for searching and purchasing domains. This also involves a large amount of re-writing legacy code (5-10 years old in places) and writing lots of new code, as well as ensuring backwards compatibility within accepted testing parameters. To support the front end, I am also using tools such as Git, Gulp, Nodejs among a variety of others. I have also been, and continue to act as Lead Architect for an in-house project that is a full-suite of systems-integrated tools designed to make office and people management much simpler, in addition to having a reporting system to extract the data input. This is built using the PHP framework Laravel, using PHPUnit, Selenium and Mocha (for a test driven development approach), alongside the skills mentioned above. For this project, I focused far more on the back-end development than I do in my usual role, allowing me to expand my skillset even further. I was involved in the recruitment process, particularly with the search for apprentices from local colleges, and was responsible for delivering inductions, initial Health and Safety and Technical or job skill training, as well as ongoing coaching and future development. I also monitored the overall progress of the teams, identifying areas for improvement and developing training plans to progress the team. This role enabled me to expand my skillset - being responsible for training in multiple departments meant that I had to develop a heavily varied set of skills, from sales and customer relations to in-depth shared hosting and people management.
