Cloud Administrator @ Spearheaded, developed, and architected various AWS cloud environments to meet the growing demands of developers, customers, and rapid company growth using just about every combination of AWS tools they have available (EC2, Auto-Scaling/Launch configurations, RDS, Multi-region/zone VPC, S3, EBS, Route53, and more).
In charge of creating highly available, cost-effective, and manageable multi-layered cloud environments that can not only be portable (not limited to AWS) but also highly efficient. In addition to AWS services I have also implemented multiple 3rd party tools such as Puppet for configuration management, Nagios for in depth alerting, RabbitMQ, Memcached, Cassandra, ELK, GlusterFS, and various *nix tools such as LVM, logrotate, and bash/shell scripting.
During the past year I've been honored to work with some of the best engineers and management teams I can dream of and continue to work rigorously to ensure all systems are up to the most strict standards. From May 2014 to Present (1 year 8 months) Systems Administrator / Web Developer / SEO Specialist @ Systems Administrator in charge of everything with a microchip. My early roles included implementing an infrastructure monitoring system (Nagios), high volume NAS upgrades/backups, increasing network efficiency, and server room construction. Other projects included a company MediaWiki, VPN implementation, UPS installations, user workstation re-configuration/installation, and Netsuite customization. Designed and configured offsite web servers for all domains and databases and implemented site performance, statistics, and security features. From August 2009 to November 2014 (5 years 4 months) Sr. Systems Administrator @ At Archimedes my role was to take over a few large projects that had been on the back burner for some time as well as cover daily system admin tasks they came up. Specific projects included deploying new VM hardware with up-to-date ESX and VM migration. Deploy a DCS (Distributed Computing System) in conjunction with existing Hadoop environment. This project involved deploying new servers with the latest lightweight Linux OS to perform DC tasks. The system was configured using Univa Grid MP. During load tests we found that the new environment could handle 3 days worth of CPU time in about 30 minutes which was significantly faster than the previous DCS.
In the time I've been with Archimedes, I have had the wonderful opportunity to work with highly skilled scientists, developers, and engineers which has dramatically improved my overall skill set. From July 2013 to June 2014 (1 year) San Francisco Bay AreaSystem Administrator @ At CIC my initial role was to build a cloud presence using AWS (EC2, S3, EBS, ELB, SES, Glacier) and RightScale to implement multi-tier environments to host a SaaS in a secure, reliable, and affordable environment. Other projects include building custom OS AMI's to be used for testing and development; automation scripts using a combination of Bash/Shell, RightScripts, and server templates; Firewall & Security details which included annual Qualys scans, CloudFlare, and built in AWS Security Groups; continuous integration for developers and QA (Apache ANT, Rightscripts, AWS, Cloudbees); and a Nagios cloud infrastructure monitoring system.
In the time I spent with CIC, I have developed my ability to identify and deploy a wide range of technologies and services in order to meet the different needs of our clients.
