As the head lawyer for EMEA and APAC, I function as a general counsel for the regions, managing all legal matters, and managing the international legal departments throughout those regions and working closely with the business leaders not only in EMEA and APAC, but also in the U.S. We have been re-structuring the legal organization to deliver better service to the company while also working to drive down legal costs and aligning the international legal team with the global legal efforts. I have worked with law firms and lawyers around the world, building relationships that have helped us in our efforts to be an excellent and innovative legal department. As the head of Global Litigation, I manage all disputes around the world, ensuring consistency of approach and making sure that the company is aware of and properly handles all of its risks. I coordinate our quarterly contingent liability reporting needs as a publicly-traded company, working with lawyers around the world to gather, review, assess and report on all liabilities. As a company that pioneered an industry, we face novel issues and we approach matters with creativity, ingenuity and hard work to drive the best results possible. As the supervisor to the legal team in Brazil, I have learned about the legal system in Brazil and overseen great improvements in a department that operates in a unique legal environment.
