Major accomplishments and duties include:• Engineering and production support of automated SDLC platform used by thousands of developers throughout Morgan Stanley for both development and production deployment. This entailed assisting in architecture design, implementation and support of this large system.• As part of the Ops Leadership team, lead the onboarding of an L3 offshore team to take on an operations role.• Engineering, automating and deploying internal cloud-based distributed build system called Electric Accelerator into this environment, which sped up build times. • Engineering, automating and deploying continuous integration product TeamCity into this environment, which provided a CI layer to our SDLC system mentioned above.• Troubleshoot and handle high level escalations, especially stability or performance problems in the plant From April 2011 to September 2014 (3 years 6 months) New York, New York and London, United KingdomSenior Unix/Linux Engineer / Consultant @ TDAmeritrade Responsible for the oversight, automation, deployment and ongoing maintenance of 5000 Unix/Linux servers as part of a team of eight. As an Engineer, was primarily responsible for being the point person / public face for new integration projects, assisting in support requests of a more complex nature, and automating repetitive tasks within the environment that had been done manually (Perl, Python, CFEngine).Additionally, assist ‘Operations and Support’ team members by handling higher-level escalations on any Unix server issues, and identifying areas where automation could replace manual tasks (eg. password resets, server builds, scripts that make changes en-masse or gather information, and other configuration management automation tasks). This involved a significant engineering effort, utilizing lower-level Unix expertise, Perl, shell script and C and Java programming skills, and a working knowledge of open source and vendor packages like Apache, Tomcat, icc, etc. Additionally:• Meeting with development groups to understand their deployment requirements and help them engineer their applications so they interoperate with our infrastructure, as well as providing training and support.• Troubleshooting operational issues, such as server slowness, client issues, Unix permission issues, etc.• Automating common tasks using Perl, GNU make and shell scripts.
