📖 Summary
I am a PhD student at Liverpool John Moores University working on studies of large scale structure and galaxy clusters. My main project has been determining the selection function of the XMM Cluster Survey and I have also contributed strongly towards characterizing the Local Underdensity with REFLEX II, in addition to this I have assisted with the supervision of an MPyhs student project. My PhD primarily involves python programming and data analysis but has given me the opportunity to visit conferences, telescopes and travel within Europe. I teach undergraduate labs on the joint degree with Liverpool University and working towards my 3i's accreditation. Outside of astronomy I volunteer on the East Lancashire Railway in Bury working as a travelling ticket inspector and booking clerk, I am a Campanologist (change bell ringer) and like to keep fit climbing, cycling and hitting the gym when I have time, which I get increasingly less of. I also hold a Personal License (I am a licensee) manage the bar for Aughton Village Hall and handle the website and marketing.Software Developer @ I develop automated and manual tests for the Velocix CDN product, and contribute to development and documentation.
