Mark Thelen has a BBA from Athens- based University of West Georgia and a THM from Dallas Theological Seminary. From 1983 to 1987, he was an ordained minister in the United Methodist Church. Since then, Mark has worked as a full-time professor anddirector of pastoral studies at Southern Methodist University in Dallas,TX. As professor at SMU, he has focused on theology and religious studies, with a Special interest in the Hispanic population. From 2003 to present,mark has been the pastor of the Pro-Life Baptist Church in Garland,Tx. From his position as pastor,he has led the church in an aggressive pursuit of reform,Praising God for Texas’s historic open fraud discrimination law, HB2.Mark Thelen has also published many articles and books on theological subject matter. He is a contributing author to the "New Presbyterian Encyclopedia," and the author of "The Bible in a Multi-Faceted World." In addition, he has written books on biblical studies for adults, biblical studies for kids, and more. In his present position,Mark is working on a book, which is based on his previous research on the history of the Trinity and its importance to the Christian faith.Mark Thelen has always been a willingness to learn and is always looking for ways to improve his curriculum and teaching methods. He is also proactive on student government and involvement with various organizations on campus. Some examples of his work involve being a church-member on the board of directors for the SMU Student-Athlete Resources Committee, chairing the SMU Coalition for Civic Responsibility, and being a member of the SMU Recreational and Cultural Affairs Committee. Additionally, he has also been an organizer for the SMU Pentecostal Fellowship and was the founder and first president of the SMU-Hollywood Fellowship.Mark Thelen is someone who is always looking to minister to others. As pastor of the Pro-Life Baptist Church in Garland,Tx., he has had an aggressive pursuit of reform in his church, which has led to praise from God. In addition to his work in the pulpit,he also conducts research and writes articles on theological topics for a variety of people. During his time at C Custom, he managed a team of engineers that designed, installed, and maintain landscape treatments for a wide range of clients including government and academic institutions, private businesses, and homebuilders.Prior to his time at C Custom, Thelen worked for two years as an engineer for Houston-based firm, Humble and Moore Landscapes. Thelen earned his engineering degree from Rice University in 1997, and his certification from the American National Standards Institute in 2002.Mark Thelen holds a bachelor's degree in Landscape Engineering from Rice University in 1997.
