Based between Edinburgh and London, he is the Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director of the newly combined WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff UK business. The consultancy business under Mark's leadership consists of seven discipline streams namely; Development Planning & Infrastructure, Building Services, Building Structures, Highways & Bridges, Rail, Environmental and Major Project Services. The multi-disciplinary business provides a full range of consultancy services to the Built and Natural Environment, across a diverse client base in both private and public market sectors. He is currently accountable for circa 5,000 staff across the business, which has an annual revenue of circa £400M. His responsibilities include setting and implementing strategic direction, encouraging technical innovation, operational direction / efficiency and leadership to ensure that the best outcomes are achieved for shareholders, clients and staff. Mark has 27 years of experience as a consultant engineer working in the Built and Natural Environment. He has a wealth of business management experience in senior board positions, having established profitable business units from scratch in a number of locations and successfully led the business through the 2008 - 2011 recession. Mark also has a broad range of technical experience ranging from concept (pre-planning) through to detailed design, at design / project director and expert witness level on multi-disciplinary projects.
