System Engineer @ To be continued... From October 2015 to Present (3 months) Systems Engineer @ From August 2015 to October 2015 (3 months) Geospatial Intelligence Systems Engineer @ •Conducted in-depth performance testing of vendor supplied big data storage solutions while also providing recommendations based on the output results given by Pixia performance tools. I would test the functionality of the storage units to see if it would meet the customer requirements and perform optimally according to site specifications.
•As part of the engineering team, I and the team would be in a constant systems development lifecycle in which our duties consist of training with, testing, validation, and collaboration development of the Pixia HiPER STARE, LOOK, and WATCH products that would be deployed to various customer CONUS and OCONUS sites. As also part of the lifecycle, we would make recommendations based on Pixia’s or client findings from testing or constant use of our software.
•Responsible for conducting in-person, technical demonstrations of all Pixia software applications to high ranking government and military officials both at CONUS and OCONUS client sites. I would demonstrate the common uses of the product, how our software can better manage their big data solutions based on being a web based application, and show how our applications format their data into a viewable dataset applicable to government and military analysts.
•Work with other customer applications on a daily basis to not only show how our products not only work on the front end to user, but can also be integrated with other products on the back end to provide our customers more flexibility of not being tied to just one product and give them a wide range of applications to use to view different wide area imagery. From January 2012 to July 2015 (3 years 7 months) System Engineer @ •Performed duties as a team lead in the labs working with other engineers integrating equipment before it gets shipped to client sites such as switches, servers (domain controllers, exchange, terminal, application, and file/print servers), workstations, thin/fat clients, power supplies, and an assortment of other equipment on the State Departments unclassified and classified network. Tasks involve staging, administering, configuring, and power testing the equipment for the worldwide Windows NT/Windows 2003 migration.
•Performed engineering duties and developed documentation as a team lead while on customer site for GITM's upgrade to the Windows 2003 Server / Exchange 2003 environment. Each site consisted of important tasks such as the migration of client's mailboxes and documents, maintaining their shared drives, and restoring backup jobs to maintain the sites integrity and reliability of information. We also setup the client's workstations to the proper network, join the servers to the proper domain, make sure the DHCP scope and DNS is correct, maintain switch connectivity, and printer migration.
•Performed engineering duties as a team lead in the labs integrating servers for the DoS virtualization refresh project. As for the duties performed, I completed such tasks as setting up/configuring network attached storage controllers, install and configure the virtual host servers, and then deploy the equipment to the customer site where it will then be used for the software/hardware refresh by me or another team. From July 2010 to January 2012 (1 year 7 months) Systems Engineer @ •Assigned as the lead engineer on the Exchange 2000 Rollup & Server 2003 Upgrade Implementation Plan to remove all remaining Windows 2000 Servers from the DEA Firebird environment. I was tasked with streamlining the testing process, updating or creating new documentation as a reference for other engineers, and then implementing these plans in the field on live-production, customer sites.
•Performed engineering duties and developed documentation for the DEA's Small Firebird Initiative and Foreign Office Upgrade from a Windows NT4 / Exchange 5.5 environment to Windows 2003 Server / Exchange 2003 Server. Tasks included were the migration of mailboxes, documents, and other data of importance, joining Firebird workstations, server migration, and printer migration.
•Provided troubleshooting support as an on-base installer to other deployed engineers. I helped with any software or hardware related issues that may arise in the field, as well as overseeing that the entire migration process is completed based on a time-sensitive schedule.
•Installed, configured, managed EMC's CX3-40 Clariion SAN solution for the DEA Division Server Refresh (DSR). Tasks included detail design of SAN equipment, rack layout, LUN zoning/configuration, backup strategy, server consolidation, data migration, and exchange 5.5 migrations.
•Maintained the quarterly System Reference Manual/Firebird Technical Reference Module (SRM/FTRM), which references the architectural design of the DEA's Firebird network while providing information on how to prepare, build, and deploy equipment to the DEA Firebird Enterprise. Duties consisted of reviewing documents for grammatical errors; technical changes made to the document, and would then incorporate these changes and finalizing the document.
•Performed duties on site in the server lab building, and configuring, and managing Windows 2003 servers intended to operate in the client testing labs. From October 2006 to July 2009 (2 years 10 months)
