Mark Evans started his career in 1985 as a civil engineer with the British construction company Balfour Beatty. He worked his way up through the company, becoming a Manager in 1992 and then Director in 1999. From 1999-2002, he was head of the civil engineering division at the Dutch company InPumps. He left InPumps to become a Manager at the Danish Engineering and Projects company Hecate Trust. Here, he was responsible for a number of projects, including the development of a new seaplane clubhouse and the construction of a new harbour and associated infrastructure. From 2004-2006, he was also head of project management at the Danish shipping company A.P. Moller-Maersk Lines. Here, he led the project management for the Danish side of the Nord Pool commercial container shipping route. He eventually left A.P. Moller-Maersk Lines to become the Manager of Projects at the Maersk Group. Here, he was responsible for the Management of projects across the Group’s businesses: cost, performance, supply planning, service, and environment. He was also responsible for the Cooperation of Projects in the Group’s Textiles, Clothing, and Ceramics businesses. From 2009-2012, he was also the Manager of the Maritime Division at the Maersk Group. This was a responsible for the coordination of the Groups’ maritime activities: from Offshore to Land. In his role at the Maritime Division, he was also in charge of the development of the Maersk Line's new fleet of 7 ships and the creation of new customer relationships. At the same time, he was also responsible for the development of the Group's marketing and sales strategies. In his role at the Maritime Division, he also managed the Group's exports to the Nordic and Baltic countries. He left the Maersk Group in 2012 to become a Manager of Start-ups at the Maersk Group. Here, he is responsible for the development of new businesses within the Group. In this role, he is also responsible for the management of the Group's portfolio of start-ups. He has previously started and exited a number of companies in this role.
