Apps recruited directly by my team were higher rated than apps which came in through business development deals or those submitted without a Mozilla contact.* Recruited multi-platform game engines and app development platforms to support Firefox OS, including Intel’s mobile app platform and the Flambe game engine (used by Nickelodeon, Disney and Mattel).* Directed development of documentation, blog posts, sample codes, newsletters, videos and conference talks to educate and evangelize developers on Firefox OS and other Mozilla technologies.* Partnered with Geeksphone, an independent handset manufacturer, to create two preview phones for developers to build and test apps in advance of the release of the first production devices for Firefox OS.* Working with the community of Mozilla volunteers, planned and executed “Firefox OS App Days,” a series of developer hackathons with over 2,500 attendees in twenty-five locales around the world. Provided materials for the Mozilla community to host over a hundred additional Firefox OS developer events.* Set up web properties to gather feedback and support developers creating apps. These included a Transifex project to pair Firefox OS app developers with volunteer localizers, sponsorship of a Firefox OS tag on StackOverflow and a feedback forum on UserVoice. From 2012 to 2014 (2 years) Mountain View, CASenior Vice President of Engineering @ Vendavo Reporting to the CEO, responsible for all engineering, quality assurance and technical publications functions for this start-up in the price management and optimization space. * Managed completion of much-delayed major release (8.0) and led retrospective to determine improvements in process and tools. This included decisions to adopt Kanban, Kanban tools and Git.* Trained and led engineering and product management organizations in the adoption of Kanban software development process.* Integrated new development organization based in the Czech Republic, initially focusing their efforts on Sustaining Engineering.* Analyzed issues with existing patch process and developed new process to improve quality and customer uptake of critical updates.* Developed "Customer Commitment" process to provide a managed communication channel for the Sales organization to escalate product enhancement requests critical for revenue generation opportunities. From 2011 to 2012 (1 year) Senior Vice President of Engineering @ Actuate Reporting to the CEO, responsible for engineering, product management, open source evangelism, quality assurance, usability, back line escalation and technical publications functions for this public company in the business intelligence (BI) space. Managed a global team of nearly 200.* Played leadership role in formulation and execution of Actuate’s open source strategy. Success of the strategy and resulting sales of Actuate’s open source-based commercial products has been the primary driver in the company’s revitalization.* Proposed and led the Business Intelligence and Reporting Tools (BIRT) project at the Eclipse Foundation and delivered seven major releases of innovative, web-oriented BI technology as part of the project.* Led technology evangelism efforts for BIRT, driving over thirteen million downloads of open source BIRT components and culminating in a user base of over three million Java developers worldwide.* Delivered nine new commercial products in the course of seven major releases, including sophisticated capabilities like 64-bit in-memory analytics, “live” Excel export, user-created analytical and operational dashboards, mobile visualization and flexible multi-tenancy and elastic clustering for public and private cloud deployment. From 2003 to 2011 (8 years) Vice President of Engineering @ VeriSign Reporting to the SVP of Product Development, responsible for VeriSign's core Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) platform and associated applications, all of which were deployed in a SaaS model. Also managed all quality assurance, usability, back line escalation and technical publications functions for VeriSign west coast engineering.* Developed and shipped GPKI, a PKI infrastructure to meet government of Japan PKI standards, enabling approximately $9M of business in the Japanese market over a 12-month period.* Implemented a PKI solution certified by the FBCA (Federal Bridge Certification Authority), enabling approximately $4M of US Federal government business over a 12-month period.* Managed overall business unit product roadmap, developed 360° product line reporting, rationalized release train scheduling, created new MRD documents and overhauled "cradle-to-grave" development process. From 2001 to 2003 (2 years) Co-founder and Vice President of Engineering / Products @ ShortCycles Founding Vice President of Engineering for this SaaS-model start-up in the CRM market. Later assumed responsibility for all product management and marketing activities.* Played key role in business plan development and venture funding-raising.* Recruited and managed all development, quality assurance and technical publications staff.* Defined, developed and brought to market two major (and several minor) product releases.* Drove definition, case for ROI and acceptance by press, market analysts and customers for product positioning.* Exceeded $1M in revenue in 2000 with first two customers, including Fortune 50 Company commitment for 5,000 internal sales and marketing users and 10,000 channel partners. From 1999 to 2001 (2 years) Director of Developer Relations @ Netscape Responsible for driving third-party acceptance of Netscape technologies, supporting and educating developers in the use of Netscape development tools and technologies and fostering partnerships with key vendors in selected spaces to provide a more complete Netscape solution for the enterprise market.* Drove shipment of 118 third-party products built with Netscape technology in the enterprise space.* Grew membership in DevEdge developer program by 50%.* Grew technical content on developer web site to over 10K pages and drove page hits to more than 1M per week.* Rationalized and enhanced ISV co-marketing benefits program.* Improved responsiveness of developer support group by 80%.* Offered position as VP of Customer Satisfaction as a result of achievements in improving developer support program.
