Before starting their business, United Contractors was a small subcontractor. They were able to build a competitive edge by being innovative, resourceful and organized. Their growth wasdriven by their overhead costs, which were lower than their competitors. They also grew their customer base because they were always willing to take on new projects.Since becoming CEOs of United Contractors and UCC, they have unfortunately experienced some common downturns in the construction industry. However, they have also seen some of the industry’s biggest launches and acquisitions. Most notably, they launched the largest existingConstruction Industry e-commerce bookstore in the U.S. They also acquired the largest construction contracting company in the country, Durabuilder. And most recently, they completed a massive $1 billion acquisition of two construction companies.These experiences have taught Breslin how to stay ahead of the curve and how to mobilize his team to achieve victories. Additionally, these experiences have taught him how to plot out and execute large-scale projects.Leagues and Associations:United Contractors is a member of the construction industry’s main global association, the International Federation of Contractors (IFC).Breslin Strategies is also a member of the IFC.Born and raised in the construction industry, Breslin has long been interested in strategic planning and operations. After completing his undergraduate studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he joined the company of his friends at United Contractors. There, he rapidly rose through the ranks and eventually became CEO.While he is currently a Principal at Breslin Strategies, Inc., he has also landed speaking and producing engagements at numerous construction associations around the world. He is a regular keynote speaker at IFC events and has written several articles for IFC’s journal, Constructor. In recent years, he has also made a living as an author. Mark Breslin has a B.A. in Industrial Design from San Francisco State University. Prior to this, he had a Diploma in Graphic Design from the University of the Arts in London, and a Canadian High School diploma in Fine Arts.Mark Breslin has several years of professional experience in the design field, having worked as a product designer, art director, and motion graphic designer. He has also held several R&D positions in companies, having developed newionic products and software.In his free time, he enjoys painting and writing.
