InitiationMandi Damman first got interested in engineering when she was in college. She started in engineering because she wanted to be a dentist and found that engineering was a great option for her career. Damman attributes her upbringing and missionary work in her native India to her love for working with and helping others. After college, Damman moved to the United States in 2009 and began working at GM in Warren, Michigan. She started her professional career at GM as aengineering specialist. Damman worked at GM for 1 year, 5 months.At GM, Damman worked on the development of the Chevy Volt, a plug-in electric vehicle. She was also responsible for the development of the Pontiac GR6, a sports car. Damman was also responsible for the design and installation of a number of recalls for GM. Damman left GM in 2019 to join the team at the Cleveland Engine Company. Damman attributes her work experience at GM to her passion for engineering and her love of helping others. She enjoys working with team members and is also a talented communicator. Damman is also interested in pursuing a career in public service. She is a member of the Board of Directors for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and is working on a project to further improve the safety of the roads in the United States.
Mandi Damman currently holds a Master of Engineering (MEng) from the University of Michigan. Damman was born in 2003 and returned to Kettering University in 2003 to major in Mechanical Engineering. After two years of study at Konstanz-Hochschule für Technik, Wirtschaft und Gestaltung, Damman obtained her Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Kettering University in 2007. She then studied abroad at the Fachhochschule Konstanz-Hochschule für Technik, Wirtschaft und Gestaltung in2006. From 2006-2009, Damman was a Visiting Scholar at the Eastman School of Design in Rochester, New York. As a Visiting Scholar, Damman researched the use of advanced digital fabrication tools in automotive manufacturing.Damian’s professional history:Damian has over 10 years of experience in the automotive industry. Damman has held various positions within the Fordham Automotive Parts and Service Unit and within the global Ford Mustang Parts and Service Unit. She has also held a number of non-executive roles with other automotive companies. In her current role as Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for Ford Mustang Parts and Service Unit, Damman is responsible for developing Ford Mustangparts and accessories for Asian customers.Damian has authored and published a number of papers in peer-reviewed journals and has been published in leading database publications such as First Things First, itself a leading journal of design and technology. Damman is also a regular speaker and presenter at industry conferences and has given dozens of presentations at national and international meetings.
