Mr. Mahiyan Chowdhury has a wide range of experience working with different utilities in the United States. He worked as a protection and control engineer, electrical primary/physical engineer, project engineer, team lead, project manager, and client manager in many projects. He also has a strong background in Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) substation and well familiar with Siemens and ABB GIS equipments. He prepared and executed many proposals and projects not only Air Insulated Substation (AIS), but also GIS, FACTS, and Solar projects.
Apart from electrical power distribution projects and proposals, Mr. Chowdhury has strong background in Data Center design and development. He was the lead project engineer for Data Center design from high voltage power distribution to medium voltage and low voltage power. He also has a comprehensive knowledge in working medium voltage switchgear equipment. Mr. Chowdhury performed many projects and proposals in IEC standards and other international customer guidelines. Lastly, Mr. Chowdhury also holds a Six Sigma Green Belt certification and executed several Six Sigma projects in energy and corporate sectors.
Manager, Transmission & Distribution Projects @ Management:
• Actively manage diverse capital projects of varying discipline and complexity for both internal and external clients
• The development and management of scope, budget, and schedules for a team of multi-disciplined (civil/structural, electrical (physical and P&C)) project engineers, design engineers, and CAD Technicians.

Work with Project Managers in reviewing proposals, interpreting design and performance specifications, writing project scope of work, preparing engineering and equipment estimates and project schedules.

Visit project sites during construction and at completion of installation to review conformance with design and equipment specifications and safety standards.

Provide technical guidance over a group or supervise engineering staff on projects of low to medium complexity and project schedule & engineering budget. Responsible for developing, validating, and presenting specialist/technical output.
ABB Data Center (NAM) Program Development Leadership Experience:
Meet with clients to determine Data Center availability requirements; Tier objective, budgets, and define the scope of a project; planned timescales and the resources needed (Designers/Engineers/Contractors/Vendors).
Manage the overall Data center design process and its activities and coordinate with designers and engineering experts to produce optimum design and meet target availability and performance objectives within the approved budget and program specifications.
Calculate total power requirement of IT and cooling loads and determine capacity and specifications for electrical power from utility, generators, transformers, ATS, UPS, and distribution to the IT environment.

From June 2012 to December 2012 (7 months) Substation Engineer @ Develop substation/switchyard (GIS and AIS: 13kV up to 550kV) general arrangement, layout and elevation drawings.
Develop project design criteria and project engineering management & co-ordination
Attending meetings with proposal managers, project managers, and engineering manager to deliver proposal documents (layout & conceptual design, single line diagram, plan view, BOM, engineering budget), attending project site and at bidding stage
