About Maarten Dijk Van

đź“– Summary

Freelance Consultancy, Contractor for migrations, Citrix environments and VMWare solutions. Specialties:Microsoft, Citrix, VMware, virtualisation and storage solutionsCloud engineer @ Follows From November 2014 to Present (1 year) 's-HertogenboschCloud Engineer @ The contract Dela held more then 1600 (VDI) seats doubled by the same amount of physical seats. Mostly thin clients (Wise) combined with laptops and a view fat clients. A couple of hundred applications reside on top of the builds all managed with RES Workspace Manager. The physical builds were deployed with SCCM 2012 and the virtual builds with WDS / MDT 2012. Part of my job was to troubleshoot in this environment and to tune it by creating and presenting optimization proposals for the environment. The environment contained many different products like Citrix XenDesktop 5.6 on top of a vSphere 5.1 hypervisor, Edgesight, Netscaler, McAfee Move and so on. Servers were build on W2K8R2 loaded with the additional XenDesktop components like PVS, SFR and DDC Services. On the VDI applications were partly integrated in the baseline and provided on top as App-V 5.0 apps. Desktop management was performed with GPO's and RES Workspace manager 2012. My job was partly operational and partly on project. Some projects I was involved were the profile, printing and deployment improvements. From February 2014 to November 2014 (10 months) VeldhovenTechnical Engineer with emphasis on Citrix @ For one of the Vancis clients I'm responsible for maintaining their Citrix distributed infrastructure. This is built with vSphere 5.1, W2K8R2, XenApp, XenDesktop, Provisioning Services, App-V, RES WorkSpace manager and Automation Manager and Netscaler Gateway. Their Server infra is deployed with Altiris. Another task I was responsible for constructing a Windows 7, hardware independent deployment solution with MDT 2012. Besides this all a lot of documenting ofcoarse From December 2013 to February 2014 (3 months) Almere, DeventerVmware Consultant @ Quion (a mortgage company) is moving their infrastructure to a data center. Not every piece of their existing infrastructure is virtualized yet. This has to be accomplished within the next few weeks. Part of the movement is the separation of two SANs (HP 3PAR F400, IBM) used for two environments (OTA & PROD) 3PAR will be extended and reconfigured for replication across a WAN. The old IBM SAN will be dismantled after all data has been migrated. As a VMware engineer I was asked to redesign parts of their existing environment and propose additional solutions for current limitations. The new datacenter will be a "greenfield design". I was asked to propose an implementation plan for new technology like SRM and Operations Manager (vcops). Besides this their backup solution needs to be enhanced. New technologies like sDRS, dvSwitches, VDP advanced will be implemented. From July 2013 to November 2013 (5 months) Capelle aan den IJsselApplication Virtualisation Specialist @ Finally I got the opportunity to work in the area of my first profession, the healthcare. The Isala klinieken developed a new workspace environment. They implement a distributed (provisioned) Windows 7 architecture with Citrix XenDesktop. This sits on top of VMware ESX and all applications are provided virtual. The Distribution and management is done by RES AM and WM. I was responsible for the application virtualization team where I had to perform the intake of all needed software. All software needed to be packaged (by ThinApp) to make it virtual available. This involved a lot off communication with departments and manufactures to get application installation sources and other info like requirements, installation and configuration manuals. Besides this communication I have to accommodate my team in time to feed them with these sources and info. This all to provide work input. Besides this administration I created packages and was asked to troubleshoot when necessary. For the migration there were more then 500 packages involved from very generic to highly special with all different kind of hardware combined. From September 2012 to June 2013 (10 months) Zwolle Area, NetherlandsSenior Consultant TTU delivery Team @ Capgemini has a lot of outsourcing customers. One of the biggest is the Eneco an energy company. I'm operating in the Microsoft team dealing with day to day 3 line tasks. Besides this operational work I'm assigned on a project called "Warmtenet". This project meant virtualizing an existing environment to Capgemini's "shared environment".
