Before moving to the UAE in 2013, I had been working as a Senior Consultant, at Hay Group. Hay Group is a global management consultancy firm that works with businesses to transform business strategy into reality. KCADOS Business Manager @ Currently operating as a member of the KCA Deutag Global HR Leadership Team, on a consultancy basis. Accountable for all business and HR activities in relation to the Group’s Dubai registered Global Employment Company (GEC), covering all expat employees. The role contributes to and implements the global mobility strategy across the organisation, as well as project managing or contributing to several strategically significant corporate HR projects (including global grading, a behavioural competency framework, a companywide salary reduction programme, a review of all expat terms and conditions to align with the market, and large scale employee transfers from the Group’s GmbH entity to the GEC).
As the Business Manager, I was accountable for setting up the GEC model in early 2014, then building on its success, was tasked with creating a fully functional expat HR Service Centre for all circa 1,100 globally mobile expat employees, for both the GEC employee and those employed through the Group’s GmbH entity.
• Large scale transfer of employees into the GEC.
• Review of all expat Ts&Cs and global mobility polices, so these can be aligned to the market.
• Accountable for all expat contractual paperwork.
• Providing advice and guidance regarding local UAE employment rights versus German employee protection.
• Signatory for the GEC, accountable for signing off on all pay roll activities (>$7m per month), invoices and ad hoc company paperwork.
• Managing team of HR Advisers and Co-Ordinators.
• Partnering with the Heads of HR and business units to understand their business and projected workloads for the GEC.

This role saw me work with global clients across all sectors. During my first few years with Hay Group my focus was on reward and organisational design work. This included delivering training (on job evaluation, job analysis and reward structures) and providing advice on best practice solutions.
Thereafter my core area of expertise changed to leadership, talent and capability work. I was accountable for the whole life cycle of an account, from the proposal stage, to designing and delivering programmes, as well as managing project teams. As a senior consultant the work was diverse and required me to be extremely flexible, travelling to meet my global client’s needs, whilst balancing business development and utilisation targets.
